I have been hearing a lot of people talk about the Muckbane. Yes I have one Yes its great all the way to 20 .. Yes there are other weapons better but most dont take the time to farm the better ones, so all in all everyone should get one, or two !
There lots on the AH so way too high and some not so bad, just keep looking and you will find one at a good price.
was just thinking so put it down here.. What do you all think about it and is it worth the price on the AH? I feel that 3k plat is about the right price.

Anyone can use handwraps and they take no damage from oozes. I don't know why people still want muckbane so bad, but if you can get 3k plat then that is a good price. I usually put them up for 10k and they sell fast.

I think muckbane has a good popularity cause **** its useful and its easy to find. (unlike the "other one")
though, I found a high + greater ooze bane light mace on the AH a while ago. sure it takes damage when you use it, but just bind it and its never permanent.

On non-Cannith servers, I always drop my extras on the AH with a 2.9K plat buyout and never had one not sell.
Could probably push that up some now with the influx of new players on the hunt, but I've always been happy with that amount.
Cannith's economy is still in turmoil, so no input on that.
Expanding on Max's post above me -- keep and eye out for blunt weapons with the "Everbright" suffix. If you luck into one of those, especially if it's got something like an Acid prefix, that'll be a good puppy to bind and put a force ritual on. [Stone of Change recipe] That way you have an ooze whacker that's good for Rusties, too.
Lot of options available, just Muckbanes are easy to nab for lowbie chars.

Or you can by cheap great clubs at a copper each. when the break throw away and use a new one, carry 6 or so. I've sent my muck bane down to a low-by friend as I've looted a +3 acid maul of ever bright. better to hit more damage doesn't take damage and is useful on rust monster also.

Seeing melee fighters with no anti-ooze weapons past level 5 really makes me sad. With Cannith's economy in its current state, you can probably get a Muckbane for 1k plat if you check the AH frequently. I know I did.

Handwraps of greater ooze Bane FTW!

Any handwrap solves your problem. Or, just punch them with no weapon at all.
At level 8+, paralyzing handwraps win vs oozes like nothing else.

Since someone else let it out of the bag, those are what I buy.
EVERBRIGHT is a suffix on the weapon. It means the weapon NEVER takes damage from oozes and rust monsters, it is RUST proof and maybe corrosion proof.
Greater OOZE Bane weapons are OK versus oozes but they still take damage. I found a wooden 1/4 staff of Greater Ooze Bane. I figured that was an awesome beater as wood is rust proof. WRONG!!!!
I hated repairing mine all the time so I attempted to sell it at auction on Ghallanda. No one wanted it. Maybe now with the new players I could rip off someone, but I cannot stoop to that level. I just vendor them.
I suppose handwraps + everbright would be a good item but I have vowed to never ever roll up a PURE monk again. Since I do not plan on playing a monk I do not want handwraps. I will use kamas and handaxes though. That is not what this thread is about though.
I find a Muckbane every six tries. I find a Muckdoom once per two years.

A good standby for rogues againsts oozes is a returning throwing dagger. Sure, the muckbane makes quick work of it, but a returning throwing dagger won't take damage and you won't get hit. Requires a little backpeddling while you throw, but works pretty nicely.

Piercing weapons make some oozes split. Go with a throwing hammer if you're going that route. I keep a coupla light maces of everbright one of flame burst one of electrical (I dual wield) and they work against rust monsters as well.

Will the starter acid touch handwraps do the job against oozes? Taking that as the very first quest reward may be a little gimp, but you probably won't have to worry about oozes ever again.

my problem with the handwraps is that the unarmed fighting animation for anyone without a monk level is horribly slow. When the third attack is that kick which just takes forever. I suppose some twitch fighting might help. But it just bugs me.
Muckbane or unarmed with a shield for me... until I find an everbright blunt weapon that's better.

Oozes dont split period, but Slimes and Puddings do.

I have a Q staff of greater ooze Bane that I bound so that it will not take permanent damage.
So far haven't had it actually break in a quest. it takes temp damage but there aren't usually enough oozes to break it.
I usually hold onto any blunt of everbright weps I find.
But Muckbanes can drop on solo. No reason to pay for one IMO.

Ran the Pit yesterday and someone pulled a Muck's Doom. Piao deserved it since he/she pretty much did the whole quest themself.
Question... do you have to do the whole quest before the named ooze will spawn? is it tied to a specific lever? Like Muck in Durks is tied to opening the door with the valve by the second kobold brother.

You just need to pull all 3 valves in the 3 furnace rooms (with a blue crystal over them, I believe) to get the Avatar of Jubilex to spawn. At this point, you're so close to finishing that most people just finish for the XP (if level appropriate) then drop down to kill the Avatar.
But you don't have to go further than the 3rd furnace room.

Muckbane, not "a must have", but extremely convenient throughout the game. If I don't have one on a character, I tend to either go with the cheap, disposable clubs or just punch them to death. Everbright works too, of course.

The best version of the 'muck' family of weapons is the most rare weapon that could be pulled out of any level chest thats high enough to drop it...if you thought muckdoom is rare, wait till you try pulling this...
a +5 Everbright Maul of Greater Ooze Bane(If such a weapon can exist...if it is too powerful, reduce the + value by 1 until it is in range)

You can also use "Shining devastation" as a ooze beater, and rust monster beater(and quite a bit more), if you manage to pull it. Also phosphor is a awesome ooze and undead killer(if you want to grind one of these out :P) .
Also my muckbane hasn't really ever let me down, I just wish it killed faster, as it is currently pretty slow on the killing.
*edit* Also it seems shining devastation is not bound. so you could buy one, and one of those is better then a muck's doom.

Don't believe you can have both Everbright and Bane (Lesser, normal or Greater) on a weapon as they are both suffix's.

Just equip a shield and then hit them with your fist, damage about the same as muckbane.

Handwraps...or bare knuckles.
My Monk has Flaming Handwraps of Greater Ooze Bane. :)
I also bound and attuned a Qstaff of Greater Ooze Bane....
But I also have a bunch of Muckbanes floating around.
If I do the tutorial, I always take the moldy Qstaff just for oozes.
Grey oozes do not split, so ranging them works well.
Returning throwing hammers do not take damage from oozes.
Still got some lumps of coal lying around.
And the best is the Sun Flasks!
Lots of options.
(Can we still buy 1cp clubs?)
