I know you guys answer questions like this all the time , but since Ive heard how easy it is to gimp out a MONK , i thought Id ask here for your guys opnion on my build so far.
Here is my Myddo link .
http://my.ddo.com/character/argonnessen/caradine/
I choose way of earth, water and air , and have Void strike as well .
As for Animal path I choose tortoise.
I choose path of Harmony at level 3 .
I may be missing some things because im at work and cant check my toon .
Thanks for the advice....

The first thing I noticed is your low strength. If you want to be a melee combatant, you may want to think about rerolling and switching your STR and WIS attribute. wisdom is nice for a small AC bonus, but you will start to feel weaker and weaker as you advance in level. Monks need to hit a lot and for as much damage as possible to be effective melee attackers. Just something to keep in mind.

Thanks for the advice...I really haven't thought much of my role in a group yet how bad does a low str affect me ? I do have weapon Fin. does that help unarmed combat?

trading wisdom for strength is a very bad idea for a monk... 10 strength is a bit low, but for a 28 build you have to sacrifice somewhere. If anything take points out of con for strength if its that important.

Weapon Finesse only allows you to use your DEX for attack (To-hit chance) it does not apply to Damage.

32-points best for monk
however, if you still want to play one with only 28 points
i would recommend raising str to 12 or 13 so you can qualify for power attack
also, if you make every stat an odd number, you can buy a tome at level 3 from the DDO store that raises every stat by 1
it is a pretty cool item that will help you with leveling your monk
i did it with my halfling 6 fighter/3 monk kensei and it has worked out well
good luck

Thanks CS furious excellent , I had no Idea about the odd number tome , that sounds like a winner!
Not to knock anyone elses advice your the first to try to explain WHY I need str . My train of thought with the build was with weapon fineese I would be hitting more often therefor doing more dmg than someone with a Plus 2 or 3 mod in str .
Staticly for example out of 10 Attacks a str build hits 5 times for a total of 30+15 str bonus dmg TOTAL 35 Damage.
Where a My Dex wis build hits 8 Times for 48 Dmg no str bonus . Also is hit less because of wis ac bonus and dex ac bonus , I think my AC is 24 right now . I have great saves so Im going to be able to last in a boss fight .
Now this isnt perfect math so please correct me Im very receptive to constructive critisim .
Thanks

I believe the general philosophy for melee dps is, strength is better and races who offer enhancements to Strength are better than those who offer enhancements to Dex, because Strength affects BOTH to hit AND damage. Hence the strength-based builds have the same chance to hit as dex-based and do more damage. Also, to hit and ac become more complicated at higher level; it is not a straight 5% for every point of difference, it's much less.
I'm sure somebody with more nuts and bolts expertise can correct this information or expand on it.
