Where could I buy the knock spell scroll/wand(besides AH). I checked arcane scroll/wand vendors in marketplace and house p and none had them. Does anybody know what vendor might have it ?

Thanks in advance.

You can buy Knock scrolls from Morna Wyrmtouched in the Marketplace, or from the level 2 spell vendor in The Portable Hole.

AFAIK, you can't buy Knock on a wand from an NPC merchant.

You can find Kock wands in treasure chests (sometimes even higher than base level Knock), and thus sometimes you can find them on the Auction House.

Check the level 1-3 arcane scroll vendor in the marketplace tent... that's where I got mine.

IIRC, there was some prerequisite to get them to show up in that vendor, but I don't remember what it was.

You can't buy the wand, unless it's from the AH, as they can be found as rewards but are not sold.
You can buy scrolls from the vendor in the Marketplace. It is a level 2 spell.

I'm pretty sure the Open Lock attempt it makes is d20 + Caster Level. The scroll will have caster level 3, and a 10th level wand will have caster level 10...so keep in mind those higher level wands on the AH are better...depending on your need.

Agreed, the wands are better, but for content at levels 1-10 the scrolls are fine. I've used scrolls on my bard at level 9 to open elite necro chests with maybe 1 or 2 failures here and there.

I want to know how you did that, because I got a level 10 wand, went out into an outdoor area, and tried to open the Gianthold flayer chest. A roll of 19 failed. I never did find out if a 20 worked because I used up every charge in the thing trying. I am not impressed. The outside area is rather easy, but at the same time a skill bonus of 10 is about what a level 1 or 2 Rogue would have... not a level 10 one, like the lying description says. That makes it DC 30 or higher which is entirely feasible for Rogues but not for Knock. I would also consider that a level appropriate chest.

If you're a Wizard you could get one scroll for scribing purposes, but it doesn't seem to work very well aside from that.

Well, Gianthold is several levels higher than 10... That said, Knock cast by a lvl 10 wizard is the equivalent of a Lvl 7 rogue's base skill roll. Find Traps and Knock are not intended to replace a rogue, though a wizard who actually knows the spell will get slightly better results than a wand user.

If you are really hard up for getting into things without a rogue, you can buy a chime of opening from the DDO Store. I think that's rather more effective.

The Mind Flayer chest in GH is a 40, IIRC. (Could be off a bit, DDO math still makes my head hurt.) But I do know at lvl 16, all my sorcs had to roll an 18 or higher with the spell (not scroll or wand) to open it.

Well, the trash is around level 10-12, so it's probably in the low end of the range. The actual quests are consistent with the level of the area though. Even so it does seem odd you can't even touch it with a 19.

I have a Lvl 15 Wizard and I was only able to open the Flayer's chest with a KNOCK roll of 20... 19 failed for me as well. So, it can be opened with KNOCK spell but seems to be only after a 20 is rolled.

...actually, you CAN buy the wands, but only sometimes, and not with plat. Special event stuff.

Of course, with my luck being what it is, once I'd bought some of those, the next three chests also had L10 Knock wands for me. Oh well.

...hey. Do the Wand & Scroll Mastery enhancements that bump "offensive" wand DCs also work on these? Anyone know?

It seems locks are either stupidly easy or too difficult for a knock wand.

So a scroll gets many of the chests and if it doesn't it is unlikely a wand will, so I just carry some scrolls on non-knock/pick classes and forget the wands even though I have a bagillion left over from the CC plat fest a few years ago.

For ex, that flayers chest in GH I doubt can be opened with a wand.

Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I do.

Not exactly on-topic, but I found this: The DC for Mindflayer chest in GH is 46. (http://ddowiki.com/page/Ruins_of_Gianthold)

Some locks in the game are intentionally high DC. That flayer chest is ALWAYS UP and very easy to get to from the Storm Eye port location, so they made it a challenge.

Locks that HAVE to be opened to complete a quest are always dirt-easy. (Just like critical secret doors can be found without any Search skill whatsoever.) The optional ones that get you extra loot or optional XP are usually pretty high. There are some in MoTU and Wheloon that run around a 90 DC.

scroll is easy to buy in the market, not too hard finding a wand of knock but spell just does not work on so many locks...
All the 1st and 2nd level spells lot of level 3's, spells are cheap its the inscrib component that add up.
