Hi all. I'm still very new to this game. I've run around Korthos with a few of the pre-made characters to get a feel for what it's like. I'm ready to try to make a character to settle down with, and I would appreciate any advice.

I want to play a charming, clever, agile character, but I already have a straight rogue that I will be using when I play with friends. I need a guy for when I'm on my own or in pick-up groups, so he needs to be somewhat solo friendly.
I want to stick to the theme of the character more than min/maxing, but I want to make sure that I don't make such a terrible character that he's a chore to play. I don't mind if I have to run quests on Solo mode when I'm by myself.
I haven't unlocked anything yet, so no Monk, Favored Soul, Warforged or Drow(too bad about the Drow, it seems like that's exactly what I want). And no tomes.

I would really like to make the character out of pieces of Rogue/Ranger/Bard since that would fit the theme best. I would be willing to take a little fighter if that would make sense.
I was thinking 2 or more levels of Rogue for disarming/sneaking/sneak attacking and for the skill points
Then maybe 2-6 levels of Ranger for two weapon fighting/favored enemy/tempest
Then maybe the rest in Bard for some buffs

I would like to go with Human, Elf or Halfling.

I would also prefer to go high DEX and weapon finesse, but maybe that will take too many feats.

Maybe that would be a terrible character? I don't gnow, but it sounds fun. Am I setting myself up for a tedious playthrough?

Thanks for any advice/tips!

You can go Ranger 2, the rest Rogue for quick access to the TWF Feats, or you can go Rogue/Fighter and use the extra fighter feats to pick up the TWF feats, either choice is viable. The Fighter would have more HP and BAB, so he might be better for solo play.

Thanks for the response.

It seems like fighter is a good "base" class. It gets a lot of good low/mid level bonuses, so you can spend a few levels on some other guys. The problem is that fighter seems kind of inelegant to me. I wouldn't mind a level or two to boost my guy's attack and whatnot, but I feel like I don't want the bulk of my sneaky scoundrel character in fighter.

Maybe I just need to give up on the idea of a real thief-like character.

Maybe I should just shell out the bucks for a Drow? It's a good game and the devs deserve a few dollars from me. A drow would give me good Dex/Int/Cha. Those are the three areas that I think would want to invest in in order to make a character that "feels" like what I want.
