I'm planning to build a Drow Rogue with a 2 level splash of Paladin. The general goal of this build is to provide all around Rogue skills with high survivability and good damage with the Assassin enhancements.

Here's the build:

I have a few questions regarding the build:

1. Bluff seems like an important skill to have, so I was considering taking points from Balance or Jump and putting half into Bluff. How many points do the Bluff/Balance/Jump skills need to be effective endgame?

2. Does TWF work while using stealth? Or while using the Assassin line special attacks?

3. I'm confused as to the impact alignment has on your character. Would any particular alignment provide an advantage?

4. Does it matter which order the Paladin levels are taken? Obviously it's best to take Rogue at first level, but from that point is there any difference when they're taken?

I'm still quite new to the game, so any suggested changes are welcome.

With a 14 int rogue, you should be able to find room to max bluff, it is priceless solo or if you have agro on something that you think you can kill before it kills you with sneaks.

TWF doesn't seem to work while in stealth, different attack animations from stealth, but that is really just your opening attack anyway, still totally worth it to have

if you are going paladin, you must be lawful good. depending on your alignment you can use different items, but you can use UMD as a work around for that. For example, weapons of pure good require you to be good, true chaos requires chaotic, etc.

I would say take paladin as your last 2 levels, it seems you are really just using it to boost up your saves. Also at level 18 rogue, if you go assassin3, you will get automatic vorpal attacks from your sneak attacks, which is awesome. So any level of paladin will take you further from that, also assassin 2 comes at 12, and provides death attack from sneak, which is a chance to auto-kill...fun stuff. Wait on paladin, force of personality will still provide you with extra will before you take paladin

Also, loose the luck of hero feat, it is bad. Your saves will already be crazy high, except maybe Fort, which should still be respectable when you get that 2 paladin in. instead, work improved crit into your build. also i would take toughness earlier.

Other than that it looks like you have a pretty solid build there, i like the 2 paladin idea a lot and i just might go that way myself.

Too low STR. Drop CON to 12 and put the 4 points saved into STR to get 14. Get Power Attack feat. Drop Luck of heroes, you saves will be silly high anyway.

* Bluff is a useless skill.

* Getting sneak attacks in is ONLY based on not having aggro. No stealth, no flanking, no bluffing is necessary.

* By level 6 you should have taken your splash into Paladin. Something like Rog, Rog, Pala, Rog, Rog, Pala.

* Due to Paladin you are locked into LG alignment. And the differences in alignments are very small.

* Order of levels is important, as you get 4x the number of skillpoints at your 1st character level. So rogue must be 1st!

* Switch Force of Personality to Toughness. FoP is overkill here, as the Paladin splash will give you excellent saves. And Toughness will help you with your inherent Rogue squishyness. You will want that as soon as possible.

* Samewise Luck of Heroes ---> Improved Crit: Piercing.

* The level 18 Toughness ---> Oversized TWF, so you can dual-wield Rapiers in the endgame. 1st Toughness is extremly usefull, additional Tougness feats after that are ....mehh.

* Bluff is a useless skill.

Bluff is a misunderstood skill which has little use in most group situations.

For an assassin, anyone who wants a very good pulling tool when in stealth, or wants an effective way to single-pull critters on epic difficulty, bluff has its moments. If you want visual proof (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXOdmyCHeOs), take a look at 4:50 - 4:55 for using bluff to open an assassination on a caster monster who is aggroed on you, and 5:30 for using it as a pulling tool.

However, if you are tight on skill points or don't utilize stealth, the limited uses of bluff will make it among the first skills to dump.
