So we get this feat for free at lv 1 but..... the 3 requirements are,
1) Weapon focus: Ranged weapons
2) Point blank shot
3) 4+ BAB
We don't meet those requirements untill level 4 at the soonest. I have heard from some people that you don't need those requirements just because the feat is a free for the ranger class. Is that true? If it is then for the love of sanity can Turbine please put more detailed descriptions on these things? Last time I played PnP was in the 80's and I sure as hell don't know the rules

You get it for free at level 1 ranger. Nothing else required if your a ranger. Requirements are there if your not a ranger.

It's true -- if a feat is awarded as a class benefit then you do not need to meet the prereqs.

For example, a Ranger with 8 dex would still get all the TWF feats even though they have a dex requirement.

Until recently only rangers could get the feat and they got it for free people cried they wanted it turbine responed and to be fair:confused: to rangers they added requirements for the feat to any nonranger.

Btw, let me ask you guys regarding dex/str. Which one I should raise while lvling up? I started with 18 dex and 16 str. Thx.
Edit: Oh, I forgot to say I'm planning to focus on ranged combat.

In fairness, this was a made up ranger bonus for DDO; per d20 rules, I was under the impression that you could get special bows that allowed for a strength bonus to be applied (capped depending on the bow) and this would apply to any character using the bow, not just rangers.

Allowing non-rangers to get bow strength is long overdue imo, and I actually think that the requirements are too steep (I would drop the point blank feat from the requirements).

Alternatively, its a shame they didn't implement bows that had minimum strength requirements and that provide the str bonus to damage to anyone using the bow, but making a change like this would be huge.

Raising dex affects your ability to hit things (as well as benefits to reflex saves and ac). In the current game, any full BAB class should have no issues hitting things at high level. Additionally, rangers get dex enhancements, and if you have gone elf or drow you also get racial dex enhancements.

Taken together, this means that you can put your level up points into strength without affecting your to-hit in ranged combat. Additionally, going str based will add more to your dps and give you a broader range of weapons to choose from, as well as saving you a feat as weapon finesse will not be required.

I personally don't like dex rangers and go strength on any that I build. Even with this approach, you can quite easily hit str and dex of 30 each on an elf. With your stats, this would be something like:

str 16 + 1 tome + 5 level ups + 6 item + 2 rams might = 30
dex 18 + 2 tome + 4 enhancements + 6 item = 30

Why? Its not inherent to the feat, rather its inherent to the class. You don't scroll over the WF feat and see that fighters can take it as a bonus feat, and that its a pre-req to kensei, and warchanter.

Maybe before you go build your character you should research the class/MC that would be best for your concept.

Actually- it would be a LOT easier to research if the feat selection tooltip included the details you just mentioned.
