I am currently playing the game with my daughter. When it went free I introduced it to my 9 year old and she loves it. We play weekend night for about 4 or 5 hours and its a blast. Right now we are both playing clerics and are just walking through everything. Crushed the korothos on hard for all quests, just got to stormreach and are having similar success. She loves the character and they are more spec'd geared towards self buffing/healing melee characters.
What I want to do is reroll and reroll as a caster (mage or sorcerer) and have that char play a crowd control, nuking, and disable traps role. If i understand this right on the cleric side she can spot the traps with detect trap, I can open open doors via knock so we really just need a way to spot the hidden stuff and disable traps.
Is this even feasible?
Advice and comments are appreciated.

Not exactly.
In order to spot traps she would need a level of Rogue and the spell you are speaking of only boosts the Search Skill by +10.
What you could do, however, is create a Human Wizard with a level(or more) or Rogue. It will push back your spells and weaken your spell casting, but a Wizard's primary stat is Intelligence which you will need to keep the skills for dealing with traps up.
You will need:
Spot (allows you to notice that you are approaching a trap, and where to search for the boxes that control them)
Search (allows you to search the area for traps, before they go off, and specifically to find the control boxes so you can try and disable them)
Disable Device (allows you to actually turn the trap off)
You might want to have Open Lock, but the Knock spell might work for most of the doors and chests(but not all).
That means that you will have to have get at least 6 skill points per level when leveling up as a Wizard since they will be Cross Class skills and need 2 points to advance them 1 level.
2 for leveling
+4 for stat bonus
So you need an 18 Int just to keep those going. Being Human gives you an extra skill point per level and means you can have a 16 Int or put that extra one into things like Concentration.

Just to clarify (and also add some confusion too ;))
- "Spotting" a trap (through the passive Spot skill) means getting an alert message that there is danger nearby. At low level you don't need to have any rogue level for this. At higher levels you will. Find traps won't do anything for spotting.
- Searching a trap is important to find the trap box, so that it can be disabled. Again, low level traps can be searched by any class. High level traps cannot (need at least one rogue level). Find traps will give you a "caster level/2" bonus to Search. What I'm not sure about Find Traps is:
1. Whether you still need to actively use the search skill, or it will be used automatically
2. Whether it removes the restriction of having at least one rogue level
Edit: side note - wizard/rogue typically works better than sorcerer/rogue, due to the fact both benefit from Int

Sorry... I forgot the "at level 20" stipulation on my comment about Find Traps. Yes, it is 1/2 level which means without having the Search skill maxed out and likely an item it doesn't do much at all. To answer the others(since I have played a Cleric/Rogue).
1. Still need to actively use Search, it just provides a bonus.
2. Nope, still need the Rogue level.
The spell is monumentally useless except for a Cleric/Rogue. Without Domains there really is no synergy aside from this spell, for that multi-class. :)

Nice, thanks!
