Keep in mind, this is my first attempt...

Hazdurh the Abbot
HUMAN 32pt Build
18 FvS / 2 Monk
(currently 2 Monk / 6 FvS)

Base Stats:
16 STR
10 DEX
15 CON +1Tome
10 INT
15 WIS +1Tome
10 CHA
***All ability raises into STR***

Few notes about why I choose the base stats I did...

STR: Plan on being a THF

DEX: With all the buffs and the Monk Wis bonus to AC, didn't find DEX as being super important. I will eat a +3 DEX Tome at the very least, and use a +4 to 6 item at the very least as well.

CON: For obvious reasons...

WIS: I don't plan on doing alot of OFFENSIVE DPS type casting, so I didn't feel this would be that important. Most of my spell selections are going to be BUFFs and Mass Heal/Buff type spells with some CC as well.

INT: No apparent reason to use a 10.

CHA: 10 because with the Human bonus ENH, and Tomes with Gear, i'll get it up to where it needs to be for casting spells, and still having plenty of SP.

FEATS:
LVL1 - Toughness, THF, Falchion (Monk Lvl)
LVL2 - Power Attack (Monk Lvl)
LVL3 - Extend, *Favored by the Sovereign Host* (FvS)
LVL6 - Quicken (FvS)
LVL7 - *Energy Resistance: Fire* (FvS)
LVL9 - Imp. THF (FvS)
LVL12 - Imp. Crit, *Energy Resistance: Electricity* (FvS)
LVL15 - Empower Healing (FvS)
LVL17 - *Energy Resistance: Cold* (FvS)
LVL18 - G. THF (FvS)

Thats basically the general gist of it...

I managed to get this guy to level 8, first 2 levels in MONK, and the last 6 in FvS.

I am having an absolute blast with this toon... SOLO and in GRPs...

So far I have managed to play very aggressive taking the brunt of the aggro and keeping myself healed. And as a bonus also being in the lead on kills more times then not.

I have successfully played main healer, backup healer, and even main tank pretty well. FvS get the General Shield Feat, so if I need to play Main Healer or Tank, or Tank bosses for example, I switch over to the Longsword and Board and do just fine.

Been able to play this toon in a bunch of different ways, with ZERO problems or FvS hate.

Sure, the play style may have to change up a bit when I get closer to the END Game, I will just have to see.

Sure this build may need some new tweeks and need re-built, but never the less I think it'll be a solid build.

So far I have been able to play this build very aggressively and haven't noticed any signs of having to tone it down for things being tougher... Haven't hit that wall yet that alot of people predict... Only time will tell....

I envisioned this build to be able to stand toe to toe in the trenches with all the other tanks, maybe not dishing out massive amounts of DPS, but enough to help and make a difference, but then target myself with Mass Buffs and Mass Heals, in turn healing and buffing the surrounding other tanks, instead of relying on a cleric that might of fallen asleep at the wheel.

Feel free to leave any suggestions, comments that you wish... They are welcome! Constructive if possible... :)

Thanks in advance....

I'm curious why you chose to go 2handed and spent a feat on falcion instead of sticking with the sovereign host weapons (longswords) and going with 2 weapons? You would gain at least +1 to hit to offset the 2weapon penalties, and +4 or so to damage (depending on the enhancements available, I forget what they are exactly).

Yea I know it looks strange... Honestly it started out as my low level spec for leveling. However its working pretty nice, and I like it alot.

The Human Bonus Feat was spent for Falchion, spec'ing really in only 1 type of weapon. I went high STR, so that is why its a Two Hander. I could of stayed using Handwraps I suppose but IDK, just not my playstyle, rather swing a weapon.

The Sovereign Host FvS bonus feats are for the Heal Clickie more then anything in the end. However this gives me another Weapon Spec that I can drop down to in certain situations. Longsword/Shield.

Or in situations where I am going to be Main Healer, Mace with Magi/Wiz and a Shield.

I think the build the way I did it gives me tremendous flexibility.

Course FvS in general is a deep class and can be setup in a number of diff ways.

Does this kinda give insight to your question?

You said you're going to CC too, so I guess your WIS is going to be over... like, 26 in the end. That's +8AC.
Now, using a shield, you lose your Monk WIS AC, you will lose more AC than those you get from whatever shield you're gonna use.
You also lose your DPS since you're not THFighting when using a shield. I don't see any reason to use a shield in that case.
Using the Shield spell with 2hander will be ALWAYS better except when you're shield-blocking.

Using shield, you lose your Monk WIS AC, and because your AC was made up by WIS not DEX, you will lose a lot of AC that way. I don't see any reason to use shield in that case. Using the Shield spell with 2hander will be ALWAYS better except when you're shield-blocking.

Hmm, didn't know that.. good to know. So yes, probably right, even in a pure tanking situation, probably just best to stay with my TH-Weapon. And in the case of being a pure main healer, probably just dual wielding a Devotion item and a SP item then if thats the case.

I'd really like to get some more feedback and suggestions on this build... So far its been playing great!

If I were to go back and reroll and change anything so far... I'd prob boost up my CHA maybe by 1 or 2... And/or boost up my DEX a little more then it is.

But so far, its been going well...
