View Full Version : Custom Keybinds get overwritten?

Is this a longstanding bug? People in the advice channel don't seem to know much about it. I've remapped most things related to hotbars, as I do in every game. However, DDO doesn't seem to appreciate my mucking about and prefers its own defaults apparently. This is really annoying. I've even gone so far as to directly edit My Documents/DDO.keymap and it STILL responds to default keybinds. What gives? Is this being fixed?

It's especially annoying because CTRL-S is a default keybind for the store (bad choice!!!); even though I've changed it to Y and CTRL-Y in the options, CTRL-S still brings up the store. CTRL is my vent push-to-talk key, so everytime I'm walking backwards and need to speak, the **** store pops up. Holy **** frustration! I don't think it's a windows file permission thing because the ddo.keymap file shows my new bindings, and I have UAC turned off.

I'm loving this game more and more (just went VIP after a week of playing free-to-play), but this keybind issue and the new broken right mouse targeting thing is really trying my patience.

Is there a workaround for the client ignoring my keybinds?

Per a ingame support master I just spoke to this is a "unknown bug" and every one with this problem needs to submit a bug report.

I am a new player and have been annoyed by this as well. My issue is that ctrl+s is bound to the DDO store and it KEEPS rebinding itself. I have ctrl+q and ctrl+e bound to weapon sets so if I am running backwards and switching weapons the game sees this as ctrl+s and opens the ddo store. If I clean the ctrl+s keybind it is fine until I log in again but as soon as I do it is there again. If you bind something else to open the DDO store say ctrl+num/ it will take over the secondary keybind. If you use the secondary keybind as well it will STILL bind to ctrl+s you just cant see it. The only way to get around this is to bind ctrl+s to another action and I think it sticks.

Why would they bind anything to a modifier+movement key anyway that is ridiculous?

Every time I close the client and reopen it, it will reapply the default settings. This means that if I set two custom keybinds to one function, it will OVERWRITE one of them with the default. If I clear a keybind (because I really don't want some of these functions to be bound to keys at all), it will set itself back to default every time I reopen the client.

My keymappings only reset when there is a patch or update. It is still annoying as hell though.

every time i restart the client all custom keys get replaced with default ones. very very very annoying. mouse button 4 is default for autorun?! grrr. they also added ctrl + a as my ddo i think, to go along with ctrl + s for store, i use ctrl for targest next mob so it's forever bringing up the store window. stop replacing custom keys with evil defaults ><

There were a few binds that would auto reset back to what the default was last Update. The only issue I heard until this was ctrl-w for the ddo compendium via explorer. (dumb move if you ask me, but that is because I hate linking anything with I.E.)

I would suggest you bug report each keybind that isn't working. Also, you may have to reset your keybindings to default then manually put them back in again. The file can get messed up such that the "editor" can not fix it.

I had that problem once, and it took me manually going into the key bindings, figure out the numeric coding scheme they are using, and put in my own bindings to fix it.
