Hi, I'm new to DDO, yet not new to the D&D world. I want ot create a Cleric to be a very powerful solo character, able to not depend on parties for any quest, so I believe a melee oriented cleric is the best option, right?

However, I'm still undecided in many points:

1. I like Humans due to bonus feat and bonus Wis/Str enhancements, but Dwarves have awesome spell saves and also improved accuracy/damage with axes. As a Cleric, I believe I'll have very high AC, but spells could still hit me easily with so low reflex saves, making dwarven saves seem really nice. So, Dwarf is the best option in that case, or Human is good enough for solo purposes?

2. Worth specializing in a specific weapon (such as dwarven axe for Dwarf or longsword for Human), or it's a good option to not specialize in anything and being able to get just any weapon coming my way? The +1/+2 bonus to hit/damage is going to make really a difference? Worth getting exotic for Khopesh?

3. As Human, my starting stats would be: Str 16, Dex 12, Con 12, Int 8, Wis 16, Cha 8. For heavy solo purposes, should I invest bonus points and try to get items for Str or Wis? Which is more necessary for solo?

4. For solo purposes, which metamagic feats worth having? And what about fighting feats such as Power Attack and Cleave?

5. Which skill worth getting in addition to Concentration? Balance I know is nice, but what about Diplomacy or Spot? Diplomacy can pass aggro from me to a summoned creature?

Thanks.

FOr 28pt Start with a 16STR and 13 Con.

Relfles save will suck. Get used to it. Rarely will a reflex save mean the end for you as long as your careful and keep yourself topped off HP wise in difficult quests.

Nice, thanks for the link.

Just a question: Why you say to start with 13 Con? Requirement for some feat? I'll never put any point in Con, so starting at 13 will always keep it odd numbered, right?

For the starting stats, my goal was to top at lvl 20 with all even numbered. Str 16, plus +5 from levels +1 from Human enhancement. Wis 16, plus +3 from Cleric +1 from Human. Is that correct?

You'll get items of stat bonuses. You can also get Tomes that provide permanent boosts to stats. You can pretty much guarantee you'll get +3 to +4 in any stats you care about by mid teens and you can get up to +6 if you are into raid grinding for loot.

DONT put level ups in STR. Soloing at end game as a cleric is going to be much easier if you take advantage of spells rather than brute force.

+3 to Hit and Damage pales in Comparison to +3 DC on your spells.

There are lots of different ways to even out an ability score. Humans get the option of an extra +1 via Enhancemnts even. TOmes come in +1, +2,+3,+4 varieties. The abbot Trinket Provides +1 to all stats. You can also put +1 and/or +2 on Greensteel weapons and Shavarath Rings.

Too many people get hung up over even starting stats. with so many things out there that can give you additional bonus', its not hard to even a stat out.
