Hey everyone, I've been playing the game for about a week or so. I'm an elf cleric, level 3 rank 15, almost level 4 and I'm liking the game so far but I have some questions.

The first is about money. In FFXI I used to get money by farming items and selling them on the auction house, and in WoW I was used to getting things from mining and selling them on the auction house. How do you get money in DDO? I've heard about getting those items in treasure pouches and trading them in for ammo an selling them on the auction house, but I don't quite understand that. I have been gathering mushrooms and treasure pouches whenever I can.

and while we're on that subject, am I still low level enough to not have to think about buying equipment? I seem to be getting some decent equipment from quest rewards and chests, when do I need to start thinking about buying equipment, or is this game more about earning it from quests than buying it? So far I haven't seen any crafting or anything.

The second question I have is about enhancements. I have six points but it doesn't seem like there's any good enhancements.

I already got the ones that look like they'd help my curing. Heal, Life Magic, etc. but it seems I've got a lot of points and not much worthwile ones to spend it on, like the ones that give me crossbow or the turn undead ones. In the next level do I get a bunch of new enehancemetns or something? And what are some good ones to get?

And third, any helpful general tips to the starting player\new cleric?

1) you get money buy selling items. those you get from chests or as collectable turn-in. collectables are those mushrooms etc you described. read their description to know whom to talk to

2) enhancements have several prerequesits either a specific level or points spend. check the "show unavialable" box in your enhancementstab to see what you can get later on

3) dont try to heal stupidity. you cant
if ppl die its not your fault most of the time
ppl tend to listen to the cleric, use that

1. Clerics are an interesting class. You need to understand what they can do. They can heal, obviously. They can also buff, and can conversely debuff. But, as you've probably heard, they also can melee (Divine Favor, Divine Might, Divine Power, and so on). They also have some of the best crowd control (CC) in the game (Command, Hold Person, and Soundburst at lower levels). They also can nuke, particularly at high levels (through Blade Barrier and so forth). Finally, they also can instakill (Destruction, Slay Living, Banishment, et cetera) at higher levels.

So, with all of those skills, it's obvious that clerics can be a very strong solo class. To get money, clerics often solo certain quests they know are profitable. Since you are a lower level, I suggest farming "Durk Has a Secret" and try to sell Muckbanes on the auction house. They don't go for too much, but they'll give you a pretty good sum of money.

Also, consider running quests that have many chests, yet take short time. A good example of this would be Waterworks. Eventually, you'll be able to solo Waterworks in a good 30-45 minutes, and get a large sum of chests. From these chests, sell the loot.

A suggestion on soloing at low levels: act as a self healing, self buffing tank. Buff yourself with Aid, Bull's Strength, Divine Favor, Remove Fear, Shield of Faith, and/or Resist Energy. Put on a shield, and get the best Morningstar/Heavy Mace you can, and go to town. You'll be quite the force at lower levels.

2. Enhancements are tricky, but I'll give you some suggestions.
-Do not get Cleric Heal. Heal is a useless skill, and if someone is bleeding-to-death (incap), you should instead just cast a healing spell on them.
-Life Magic is good for obvious reasons.
-Energy of the (whatever) is good, because it raises your spell points.
-Divine Vitality is good when you're partying with other casters. It allows you to spend your uses of turn undead to "heal" another caster's SP.
-Divine Health is a good use of AP, as well. It uses a use of turn undead, and slowly heals a party member over time for about 30 seconds.
-Extra Turning, because of these two enhancements, is a rather average enhancement.
-Prayer of Life. It allows you to ocassionally "crit" on a healing spell.
-Cleric Wisdom. It's a no-brainer.

That should be about it! If you have any questions, please ask.

Well, I want to go healing and maybe some buffing too. I like healing especially.

Thanks for the information!
