Words cannot express how boring it is to stand toe to toe with an opponent that has infinite mana, that casts the Heal spell on itself continuously and with increasing frequency, the lower it's HP get.

Especially when it is red-named and unreasonably immune to all sorts of things.

Please... reduce the frequency (every second?), or give these NPCs a limited mana supply. Seriously.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Twerpp again.

Back on topic, however, (and I assume you are talking about the named Eladrin at the end of Running with the Devils), this is one of the few times in the game that you need a particular minimum DPS output in order to defeat a foe.

Just to add, there are very few battles where you need a minimum DPS output to win due to the boss's regeneration. Running with the devils has the named eladrin, church and the cult has the vampire, trial by fire has the named troll boss, and VON3 has the marut. Those are the only 4 I can think of right now that actually give the low dps party trouble, especially if they wipe at the boss.

King Bendix in Cabal For One is another example.

Yeah, in thee three+ years I've played the game... I never noticed any of those =O

No seriously, it's just the spam healing garbage that annoys the **** out of me.

We didn't even wipe, we simply couldn't get him below 1/4th of his HP. I've done this quest a bajillion before, usually with characters that are above it's level. Today I did it at level 13.

The bosses would have posed no problem to my group, yet somehow, this mid-boss completely halted the quest (somehow as in... infinite supply of mana/heal).

I guess it's our fault for only being able to dish out about 400-600 dmg per second total, instead of 800?

It's possible the scaling bug was allowing his heals to cast for 2x what they were supposed to. That would account for the difficulty you are seeing.

On elite you do need a good chunk of DPS, but normal should be easy enough even for a group of lvl 13s. Another part of your group's difficulty could just be the lack of greensteel weapons as plain transmuters will not bypass that guy's dr 10/cold iron and 10/evil.

A single sorcerer spec'd for damage takes him out in under 60 seconds. If your group can't bring that much dps to the table, then I'm afraid that quest was beyond you.

Things that help, but are not required:

- A crit on a firewall and solid fog to slow him down and keep him inside the firewall

- Hold on blasting with mana until he reaches the spam heal point. (Useful when you're a lowbie caster without tons of mana) - THEN spam the damage spells.

- Cleric spamming comet falls when he's close to dying, with only the odd mass cure thrown in between.

- Melees with weapons that do something to him. Most level 13s don't have mineral IIs, so the next best thing is an acid or acidburst weapon. (Eladrin's are good-aligned, so obviously holy/pure good won't do ****, and they have enough resistance vs cold and fire to make those bursting weapons fairly ineffective)

Won't work for the Boss, but for the rest of the Clerics/Sorcs in there, Feeblemind is your best friend....

Touch of Idiocy is not to bad either....

Try a different tactic then 'toe to toe' for a change.

;)

No reason to waste so much SP nuking them when a simple spell, or spell combo, will render them as weak as say, Yaga Nub.

Well, considering we were flagging for the Shroud, and level 13, I don't really see how we can be expected to have had greensteel weapons yet =P

Surrounding him, and beating him down, preventing him from running all over the place is the best tactic I can think of. You're talking as if I haven't done this quest a million times over. I'm venting frustration about a stupid game mechanic, not about my group's inability to deal with said stupid game mechanic.

As for the ones WITHOUT red-named immunities. Those are not a problem, and were not a problem then either. Hell, I basically solo'd most of the quest up until that boss fight.
