Okay so after perusing these forums I decided to build a rogue ranger. Took 1st level rogue and the rest so far as a ranger. Character level is 7. I am having some issues with the prerequisites for Tempest, as I don't have Spring Attack, and is unavailable in the feat exchange. So the question is : At what level do I get to pick another feat??

If I am completely boned, that sucks, but am about to unlock the drow. Should I just start over?? Any help here would be great.

For spring attack, you need both Dodge and Mobility.

This could be where the issue you're facing is located.

To get Tempest ASAP, you ought to pick those feats up first (if that's your goal).

Feats are available at 1,3,6,9,12,15, & 18 unless your race or class gives bonus feats. For Spring attack you need dodge and mobility. Most take doge at 1st level, mobility at 3rd and spring attack at 6 to get tempest asap.

You arent screwed yet, what feats have you take so far?

I Do have Mobility and Dodge, Took Two Weapon Defense instead of Dodge at creation, unaware that the feat exchange was funky like it is. So I am not totally boned, just need to hit 9 then?? If so, thats not too bad. I try to stay away from premade builds, like to have my own style, so I expected some surprises. But would remaking as a drow come out better in the long run??

Level nine be your next feat... however If you could have placed a feat exchange now you could have spring attack and tempest. Spring Attack is a chained feat - meaning it requires other feats before hand - "Dodge" and "Mobility" to have Spring Atttack selectable as a feat... Thus level 1 take dodge, level 3 take mobilty and level 6 take spring attack - thus tempest pre-reqs fullfilled ... level 8 or 9 I always take an "improved critical" no matter what. Two things questionable here though is if you're human (have an extra level one feat) or are you dex based to-hit and require weapon finesse... If dex based I would keep finesse and hold for level 12 for Spring attack and tempest ... unless human you could get away with it.

So a Tempest Ranger needs to be strength heavy?? If so I might make another one anyway, as I am Dex based and didn't take finesse, like a nooblet. Sorry about these questions, I know some about PNP D&D, but not much about DDO, so I am kinda just applying the knowledge i have.

No rangers dont need to be str based, you can have a high dex. You can add weapon finesse as well :) for now pick up a weapon with finesse on it so you can finesse it :)

For Tempest you will also need to pick up the "ranger dex 1 and 2" enhancements as well. Save your ability pts cause those two will cost you 6 to get (if I remember right) and tempest costs 4. Make sure you have enough points to take those dex enhancements and then you'll qualify for tempest.

Actually those are only required for Tempest II. So unless you plan on taking 12 levels of Ranger, you just need Dodge, Mobility and Spring Attack.

Oh yeah haha, thanks for correcting me, but If hes dex based those enhancements will work wonders if he picks up finess :)
