I am 3rd level. first two rouge then switched to favored soul. when i try to cast my spells its says fail ability too low..what does that mean?

Your ability Wis or Cha is to low to cast 'said' spell. To be able to cast a lvl 1 FvS spell I believe you will need atleast a 12 Cha.

10 + spell level in primary casting stat
10 + 1 = 11 cha needed for 1st level Favored Soul spells
10 + 9 = 19 cha needed for 9th level Favored Soul spells

Base + tomes + items + enhancements all count towards this number.

Why would you switch to favored soul anyway? Are you going for rogue 2/favored soul 18?

I recommend a ROGUE/WIZARD build as both are INT based. ROGUE needs Dex also.
18 wizard/2 rogue

For a charisma I would do something like Paladin/favored Soul but I have not created a FvS yet.

There is Westsides interesting build of Ranger/Rogue/Monk.
