View Full Version : Default the "Whos" list to OFF when logging in.
I'm sure I am not the only one who is getting a LOT of load in lag when they first log on. I'm thinking it has something to do with the amount of people that the WHO list has to populate when we load in. How about having it default to have the "Any" box un-checked? Or at the very least, giving us the option to set it as un-checked to default? Pretty please?

yes please do this - at the moment I login and then stand around for 15-20 seconds waiting for 'something' to happen and I do also think it's the 'who list' populating.
At least default it to 20th level monks - then it wouldn't take long to load at all :D

I think it has to do with the fact that my.ddo.com updates when you log IN to a Character.
"This character has not logged in recently;
No detailed character information available"
Notice how it says hasnt logged IN.....
I might be reading too much into the statement, but it struck me odd that my Load in TImes have increased so dramatically since my.ddo.com went live.

My testing showed my.ddo.com is updated when you log out - you get added to a queue of updates and it usually appears within a few minutes. You can test this by buffing yourself up with e.g. a resist, then logging out and you'll see that resist appears on your character.
I'm pretty sure it's related to the who panel. I'll try tonight logging in using an unguilded character too, just to confirm it's not the guild list loading.

Ah good point about the guild list. I didn't even consider that. However, the load-in lag noticeably started when we were having 4+ instances of the harbor and marketplace. I am overjoyed that we're getting a lot of new blood.. I just wish I didn't have to wait half a minute to finish loading in :p

Please Devs, make this happen.

I get the same pause when I login to an unguilded character - so it's probably the who list - the delay seems longer at busy times too.
