View Full Version : Server was hopping last night

First time I can recall having 5 Marketplace instances on a non-special event occasion (like the Marketplace collapse last year where it pushed 20). Often was seeing 2 and on occasion 3, but never more.
Even had multiple instances of the Wayward Lobster...that was a first for me. (I don't PvP much so not in there all that often...but really, was meeting someone there and had to ask which instance...:))
There still needs to be some more help for people setting up LFM's in the grouping window. Still seeing way too many level 1-20 type postings for Harbor and korthos Isle quests. They should have taken the chance during the training tutorial when you group up with the NPC's to have you form a party with them, and utilize the LFM interface to show how it should work.

Cannith's market & harbor were in the Instance 7-9 range from 1800CST - 2330CST. Harbor was at Instance 5 when I logged in around 1300-1400 CST. That's a lot of players.

Not sure how accurate this is but a friend was telling me he counted 70+ LFM`s as well.
F2P has definitely brought out all the cheap bastiges out of retirement.
Get a fix here and there...drool over the uberness of Level 20 and start paying Biatches! :D

Did ya listen to DDO Cast this weekend? I believe they had a loose-lipped report of TP Sales since the F2P Launch and it translated into lots of money generated by the F2Ps.

I took one of my toons to korthos to grab some favor and holy balls korthos was packed!
I was listening to general chat just laughing... One guy said... "My AC is 21 now!!!!!!!!"
There was so many questions in general chat I actually answered one, but dont have the patience for 1,000 questions, my 2 stepkids are bad enough.

Its really nice to be able to fill LFMs within minutes--I put one up for shroud and hound this weekend and had so many requests I couldn't even send tells to everyone to say Im sorry they didnt get in--High level new content seems to sill just as fast--its been awesome.

Loved having so many new people running around,; however, the only bad thing is that when I try typing in /quest or /quest completions the General chat was blazing so fast that I actually had to do it 3-4 times before I was able to catch it.
Just a question, but is General chat the only place that /quest and /quest completions is displayed?

I had to switch off general chat after awhile man was that thing going. :)
Although the WOW (holier than though) references were getting annoying, i had to turn off general chat also.
It was nice to see the server hopping for a change. And no lag for me. :)

On XFire DDO normally has around 700 hrs/day and sits at ~170th in popularity.
Currently DDO has nearly 9,000 hrs/day and sits at 24th, DDO's highest position ever (better than the original launch).
DDO is currently more popular than Champions and more played than AoC and WAR combined.
LotR is still ahead but not by much (10,000).
Before getting too excited remember WOW is ~300,000 hrs/day...

Interesting...with a but...
Xfire tracks the behavior of those who have signed up for using it, right? So it is a self selected group of fairly geeky power gamers.
Where I see it missing things, for a game like this, which appeals to a much less techno geeky demographic (due to all the oldtimers who recall D&D from its early years and get going with the game, but are not into MMO's in general) will be far less likely to even be aware of XFire. One could make a strong case for undercounting WOW as well based on that, but some of the other games will almost certainly have higher percentages of players who hook into the Xfire net.

No raid timers are "standard" text and you can have them come up in any chat window. Right click on the window title and select, "set incoming text type" and select "standard" This will have your raid timers come up in the window of your choice.

which can be frustrating because I have (Standard) turned off in most of my windows now because of the annoying-as-hell (Standard) Mouselook enabled that I was spamming myself with, so I type /quest completions and have to think a bit before switching to another window ;)

Yep, people everywhere across all levels of the game, but especially the lower levels it seems.
It's awesome to see; very encouraging!
Playing AoC and getting used to res pads in open areas and dungeons somehow made me forget three years of "always bind at the tavern/Silver Flame Cleric closest to where you are questing", so I wound up in Korthos a few times for the first six levels of the new build I'm leveling and I tell you, I couldn't step a foot without bumping into somebody out there! :)
