View Full Version : Not too hard... harder... you have to focus.

With latest update you have to focus more... it's my opinion. And use more resources... not anymore clicky clicky fest! :)
But my two cents are that they still need to balance a lot of things... I think that up to level 4 or more, game should be "easy"... while you learn the basics and you begin to appreciate the atmosphere.
And then difficulty should raise faster while you reach one level after another.
Solo quests - means you are able to complete them alone without friends and hirelings. If you can't solve them, something is wrong.
At low levels, maybe you don't know how to play, ok, but this must be considered by devs, or new players will run away in a week.
Also, magic users at low levels are totally weak, and this must be considered as well.

Hmm, I found that as a Fighter all the quests before you get to Stormreach are pretty effortless, I was able to solo all dungeons on Hard and the Dragon scroll one on Elite.
I tried the arcane casters and just couldn't get used to the targeting needed for spells.
As divine casters they were only mildly more difficult than the fighter. I was still able to do everything solo on Hard except for Misery Peak which I took the Cleric henchman.
My Rogue was able to do the Hard dungeons with a henchman.

You mean pushing the 'TAB' button for enemies is tricky?
Or do you mean pushing 'F1' to 'F6' for party members is the problem?

Cycling through enemies that are running around like mad chooks isn't precise nor quick enough, I just haven't got around to changing my input configurations to make it easier yet. You also have to face the enemy in question too so by the time I've got my things together I'm either dead or it is.
It's just a matter of me not being used to it yet. Where as a Fighter using the default configuration I can just hold both mouse keys down and run around like a mad chook myself and eventually all enemies are dead. No targeting involved.

Just remember you only have 15 minutes to pike the whole quest and start heading for the end chest before you get auto-logged out ;)

Heh, it's a bit difficult to solo a dungeon whilst being afk....
It might take a while.;)

It may appear simple, but the first time you do that to a group of hypno'd or fascinated mobs, you will probably get a chewing out.
Do it twice or more, you may find yourself on do-not-play lists real fast.
All meless should have their targets selected.
If you have to tab thru multiple mobs, use the '~' key to select nearest hostile.
If the enemy is behind you, jump forward and spin 180° before you hit the ground. Preferably casting the offensive spell before you land :)
Sounds tricky, but to survive as a caster you need to learn to leap around like a jumping bean...

Yeah, I'm a gumby noob at the moment, last time I played was 2006 with a trial account. By default you have to right click to target a specific mob but I'll have to get used to using the targeting keys, Tab and ~, before it becomes a bad habit to goof off clicking all over the place.
I was only swinging like mad when I was zerg rushed by bunches of Kobolds. :D

No worries - just as long as you understand that the combat goes way deeper than 99% of the MMOs out there - that's the main draw card for a lot of us long-time vets :)

The difficulty is very light for the first 4-6 levels especially now with dungeon scaling. Any character pretty much can walk through the early quests on solo and normal difficulty now even without a hireling. In fact due to dungeon scaling it generally makes sense to skip the hireling until elite difficulty (might as well save up a bunch of quests on elite to do all at once in that case).
You can do level 4 quests at lvl 6 without an exp penalty now...and actually save up exp for 2 levels before leveling up if you want....so you can pretty much do "easy" quests all the way up to level 8 if you feel like it. Doing quests on solo then normal difficulty and later doing lower level quests on hard and elite finally.
Then you have the exploration areas. If you do them right before you become to high a level.....and get the full slayer exp etc...you can easily jump up to lvl 10-11 before getting into any difficulty quests.
So there really is a long run possible with little difficulty now.

If someone could confirm or deny this - the AP bubbles look different now, like you can only go one rank above the next level??

/qft.
The combat system here is whats kept me this long. even when i was old and jaded there was still nothing to come close to this games adrenaline rush combat system.
OP. dont fret it, once you get used to it, you'll be enjoying the sorcs mid air jump + spin aroun mid jump+ dropping fireballs upon enemies below you :D no other game lets you do things like that :D
alos as has being stated,be very very mindful of where you swing that greatsowrd etc.. groups that enjoy using CC methods dont take to kindly to random swinging. my rule is simple, you break the mobs cc you tank it. if you cant then learn your lesson and adapt your playstyle :)
oh and most of all, have fun - its an awesome game :)
