High Res/DirectX 10

So I downloaded and installed the "High Resolution" version and the directx 10 features are disabled (greyed out), these were working just fine before the new patcher/client. What gives? Are the automatically on?

I must not have noticed that during install. When I downloaded the installer I just chose to repair the current installation.

Running vista ultimate sp1, all my drivers are up to date.

I'm having the same problem, I made sure I had use hi def graphic during the install, I'm running windows 7 x64 and an nvidia 8800 gts. Downloaded most recent video card drivers and ensured my DirectX was up to date.. still the same problem.

Maybe its a windows 7/vista issue?

I did a search on the forums and is seems lots of other peple are having this problem, but there has been no real response from anyone in regards to a fix.. Bumping so it dosent get lost..

Ok I figured it out for my machine. I'm running Windows 7 and here is what happened. I downloaded and installed the high res version and just to see the performance difference in DDO I turned my DX10 off. A day or so later I went to turn my DX10 back on and the box was uncheckable. After troubleshooting it all came down to being that the task bar update launcher was on the whole time so I believe that this was keeping from making DX10 available for me. I turned it off then restarted DDO and boom there was the DX10 button available to be checked.

I installed high res client for the first time and I never had that option selectable...

hello guys.... i ran into the same problem today... i was running the ddo client/launcher/shortcut in xp compatibility mode... and i rememebred that Xp does support DX10... so i turned it off. After that I could access the Dx10 Functions again. Hope that works for you. Cheers

Typo highlighted. You meant to say "does not support". XP definitely does not support DX10.

i have windows vista home premium, it has directx 11. nvidia geforce 9400 gt and its stuck on directx 9, box is shaded and i cant switch it to 10. how can i fix this? ive tried removing system tray icon on tool bar, running in admin and checked capability to see if its not running in xp. and it isnt. i even went as far as deleting my directx registry folder and still nothing. need help with this.

That helped me as well. To summarize: DDO expects some optional DirectX components that are not installed or enabled by default. Download and run 'dxwebsetup' from MS, or here for a direct link:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35

Then restart DDO, and check your graphics options. As long as your graphics card and system support it, you should now have access to the pull-down to select a DirectX version, instead of being locked into v9.
