View Full Version : Adventure Compendium Is Blank
Steiner-Davion

On my main account, the entire Adventure Compendium, all three tabs: Adventures, Wilderness and Patrons are 100% completely and utterly blank. There is nothing there.
On my secondary account it works just fine.
Anyone else haivng this problem?

This has been happening for some time, and has been bug reported frequently. The only solution has been to log out and then log back in and hope it works.

Yup, long time bug. It's just cosmetic though, you still have all your favor, so its probably at the bottom of the fix list.

Thanks Lorien, but I can't claim credit. Those are the words of Rabbi Israel Salanter, who I happen to agree with. :)

Same issue here. logging in/out is unreliable as well.

Also here: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=198381, among other threads as well.
Logout/in doesn't help, restarting client doesn't help. This is a Turbine issue. We can't quest for our favour any more since we don't know what we have left to do on Elite, etc. Turbine, please fix.
THIS IS GAME-BREAKING.

I agree. This is the single most aggravating thing for me in the game right now... other than F2P people not knowing which quests are not F2P. The real kicker is that when this bug appears, you can't even tell what quests most people are LFMing... nor can you post your own LFM with a quest listed.
If Turbine thinks this should be low on the priority list, they are sadly mistaken.

The issues with the social panel have been here since the game onset. We have been very patient and continue to be. We do our best. I do say, it is funny to see someone annomous on the who list and see them in your group with a name, though, thats cool.

Not sure exactly what causes it, but each time I've had it, I've run into a tavern, logged out, logged back in, and it has been working again. Never had it stay beyond one logout/login cycle, although I see people have had that experience.
Wondering if we can trigger it ourselves by trying to do something before the character is fully loaded? Usually I go get a drink while the char is loading in. When I return the char is fully working.

I seem to have the best luck by not touching anything when I log in for about a minute or so until everything finishes loading.

Nothing. People are just trying to link it to other things, such as "oh, I did X, Y, Z, and it came back." Pure coincidence.

Fix this turbine.
Also while youre at it. Fix the **** making me crash every time I enter an enemy's ice storm and/or some forms of cloud kill type environments. Yes i crash to desktop in EVERY enemy ice storm. It's not f'n random or hard to reproduce for testing.

I am thinking along the same lines. Seems to me it mostly happens when you try to move, open inv, or interact with something else before you are fully loaded. When I log in I'll have a few seconds b4 the chat instances load then a lag spike afterwards( about 30sec or so). If I wait til after the lag spike and everything is loaded it seems my compedium loaded in fine. The times it doesnt load it seems are the times I forgot to wait and tried to run off as soon as my char loaded. I havent tried testing it and not saying its for sure but it does seem related.

This

I started having the issue when EU launched. But I only have the issue if I move, access any tab, move a toolbar, ect., before the game fully loads. So when I log on I just don't touch anything until the load completes. I really think (guess) that it has something to do with the game loading the new channels. (Trade, advice, ect)
Is it annoying? Yes.
Is it game breaking? Hardly.

Known bug, happens all the time. If you had checked the LFM tab you probably would have also noticed that no one had the name of the quest they were running selected.
It appears to be a case of a failed load, its cosmetic only, relogging fixes it.

Yes it is hard to reproduce because they don't have your exact same "f'n" system. I don't crash at all.
You want to get it fixed, you had best give "f'n" details in your bug reports. If you aren't "f'n" filling out bug reports well aren't you just the helpful, necro thread sniffing whiner.

I have also seen this happen to the favor screen where everything was blank. I also saw this happen to the Create a Party screen where no quests appeared where you select the quest you are looking for more for. I just handed the star over to someone else. I logged out a couple times - same thing but the whole thing cleared up after I logged in a day or two later. If it happens again, I'll Bug Report it.

Sometimes I have to log in, log out several times before it begins to work. I find that if I am in an inn, the process is a little faster, and I usually put myself in a corner staring at a wall, to keep speed up load times til my patron/social panel work again. (Sometimes I have to relog 6+ times to get it to work). I notice if I'm standing in an inn, staring at a wall, with little to load on my screen, and I touch nothing for 30-40 seconds after logging in - it works fine. Although, I'm sure if I spin around three times, while patting my head and rubbing my stomach I'd come to the same result.

Yup this works. This issue has also existed on DDO:europe servers for a while now.
When I login and try to open the patrons or social panel straight away I get a blank LFM + patrons.
If that happens I relog and wait about a minute before opening any of those windows, then there's no
problems.

This happened to me a little while ago.
I contacted technical support (via. email, not the forums) and they replied quite quickly with a method to correct it.
Unfortunately I can't recall the exact folder to delete but they'll tell you to delete a folder and when you log in next, the launcher will restore the files needed to correct this.

If it is fixed that easily then why on earth haven't they applied it as a patch yet? :o You wouldn't happen to be able to find that email to give us the tip?
I think it sometimes happens mid-session too with area transitions loads, not only when logging in the first time. Really annoying to not be able to reference the quest list or to see what the LFM:s are for.
I haven't bug reported it since I've heard so many others have the issue so I should assume that they are aware of it and have sufficient data to locate and fix it. I hope all the others don't think the same.

It has been much better for me, but then again, may be I've just learned to let the client load itself fully (after selecting a character) before opening anything or clicking on anything. It loads every time this way.
Any one else still seeing this?

Restart Computer always works for me. Log off and login in several times without a restart of the machine causes that blank in quest adventure and list of quests when forming group!
Every time i get that bug i just restart my machine and all back to normal.

Empty compendium always works if I go to tavern logout of that character, and back in.
When it's loading in, dont open any screens or panels before it's got past the "JERKY" slow bit. That seems to help avoid it also.
but it does seem to be pretty common, I see a lot of people hosting with only written adventure names (not selecting the quest from the list because there IS no quests in the list)

Yup, that's what I've been doing. Logging out in taverns (or areas like ship to Sorrowdusk), then logging in and waiting for everything to load and sync with servers as Chaosprism mentioned before doing anything. Worked every time so far.
But before I tried this and had no success, but that's because I didn't make a routine of it. Once I did this every time, it was just fine. Really annoying. Turbine should fix this or just give us a button to click to reload our Compendium. And if bandwidth is an issue, then let us click that button every 10 minutes or so which should clean up this problem.
I hate waiting around for the client to sync with servers just so I have my Compendium each time. This is time I could be re-positioning my inventory, log, and other panels (since DDO's client doesn't save the position of these either). Grrr

I've been experiencing this problem also. I finally decided to google it today and came across this thread. Will try(next time) the "tavern thing" and see how it goes...but I can assure you JUST RELOGGING does not work. I relogged 3 times this morning with same result(blank screen) and I been playing DDO long enough to know about the "lag spike" when you first login(apparent since I have alts that I chk often to see if they have sold stuff in the auction etc.)
This has happened many times and I've(up till now) always been able to fix it by relogging. Hence my research this morning, on this anomaly and subsequent post here.
This is obviously a bug and I just wanted to say thx to the forum-community for the input regarding this situation to HELP us fix this problem when the the game-devs appear NOT to be doing anything about it. I guess we just try to live with it?
All I have to say is, "That's sad." Because when you have an xp-pot or some OTHER "timed" enhancement ticking away that you BOUGHT with RL cash from the DDO store counting down...and you waste a 1/2 hour trying to figure out WHAT quests to do for favor or whatever and you have to deal with THIS...well...I hope the devs are listening... it's things like THIS that get mentioned in reviews all over the web about your game.
PLEASE fix this. It IS important.

I've learned my lesson. The Turbine devs are NOT listening. This, along with many other bugs still around (ie: The Long List of DDO Annoyances (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=209218)). And they're not patching anything. They're just letting DDO die, while giving a new piece of content to pay for when released as "adventure packs".
Oh, Turbine devs are listening over with LOTRO, their golden boy.
Meh, I've spent more time enjoying the development cycle of Star Trek Online (closed beta, and now open beta with a release in two weeks, and will be spending more time there in the near future. I've given up on wishing for Turbine to patch and fix DDO. Their MyDDO has not been updating for two months now. Oh well, I'll probably be flamed for sharing my frustration.

This always works for me as well. I've never had to restart, as long as I give the client *plenty* of time to load and don't get overeager popping open panels. Not just until I drop down from my "hoving crouch", but all buffs displayed, mouseover working, all nearby players moving without jerking, and all hard drive access complete.

I just go refill coffee while my toon loads up. Maybe +15 secs with no more Compendium loading probs.
But still annoying if I switch around alot that day, even logging from taverns. I've actually missed grabbing some groups. So this is not just about convenience.
/edit: i'm surprised some of you are getting it multiple times in a row, even after logging. I only have to log out once, log in and wait extra time, and it always goes back to norm. I wonder how much our latency affects this.

On that note about logging out at a tavern and not doing anything until completely logged in, I've had it break a few times before when I actually clicked on someone or did something. Fortunately a quick log out and log in while in the tavern corrects it. Really, doing almost anything can break it.
Hitting 'p' for the player compendium is the first thing I check, lol.
