Hello there,
Just wanted to wish everyone well in the new mod. Downloaded the new mod last night at 600k.. went quick! Installed on windows 7 ultimate and it even launches properly on the first go. We will see what happens once it connects to the server today..
I hope everyone is as excited as I am! Let the questing begin!

You go here..
http://www.ddo.com/ddosupport/download-ddo
pick what you want and install.. I suggest if you are going to install it this way to UNINSTALL your current copy.. Please be sure to make a copy of the ddo.keymap and the userpreferences.ini that are both found in your
C:\Users\xxxxxxxxx\Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online
folder of your machine.. Highlight and copy them someplace else..
Also, after you uninstall ddo there is a browser folder left in the original installation folder.. I put my ddo installation on my d:/games/ddo so I just went into the folder and deleted the remaining browser folder before the download started. Once the download ends it will automatically install the new game. I just pointed it back to d:/games/ddo and the install worked perfectly.
Good luck

Odd, my client doesn't even get that far. When loading it simply states that there was an error connecting to the data center. Are others getting this as well?

You are going to continue to get this until the servers are UP.. Might be awhile.. no one knows for sure.

Yeah I get the data center error message.
Thanks but I'm not re-downloading several gigs of data I already have for a 400MB patch. I can wait, sorta kinda, grr.

its more for that clean install feeling.. People on vista had some issues with ddo and getting it to work properly.. However, on windows 7 it seems to be running and launching just fine so far.. We will see what happens when the servers are online. However, it just feels good to have a clean start. Using the client that is over a year old with updates here and there, countless dlls or file changes.. etc.. well I just preferred to have a clean installation for mod release.. This way later when I have lag I can't blame it on the client and say to myself... I should have reinstalled. :D
wait...so you can copy your preferences from you old copy of DDO if you removed it and downloaded a new copy? How do you do it again? lol Thx

I found the DDO and it looks like it has some key mapping in it, but where do I copy it to? The new DDO location?

what you want to make sure is that you have installed the new version.. Once that is completed and you finally get on the new server and get the updates (if there are any ) you want to take the old files that you copied from that location above and put someplace else for the time being is rename the new ones and copy the old ones back to the same place..
Right now even though the new mod is installed the dates on those two files are still old. So at this point I am not sure that they were updated yet. So just wait until after you get into the game at least once and then check to see if the dates are changed to 09.01.09.
