View Full Version : Feature Request: Squelch Voice Only

I would like to request that we be able to squelch a players voice chat, but not his/her party chat.

Comments: I hate using squelch, but I have found in recent days a small number of players who just enjoy being obnoxious. However, generally those players confine their yammering/diatribes/insults/etc to voice chat. Other than being a general wank, they do seem to manage to play the game tolerably. If I could squelch their voice and let it be known that any quest info for me needs to come typed, that would be helpful.

Yes, I could turn off voice chat and get the same effect, but I would hinder myself (and my party) by not being able to hear my other party members who are saying, you know, actually useful things.

Some friends who just can't fix their mics when in game, I don't want to turn the sound down cause I can't hear the rest of the party. Sounds like a nice little options, but obviously there are more important issues for Turbine to resolve. But this is a good idea :)

This would definitely come in handy. Allow us to click the little green voice link by an individual party member's info to silence them!

They really need to revamp the voice chat. Volume/mute for individual players and have the game remember the settings?

Thumbs up on the volume setting. Good thinking!

Ooooo baby--individual volume setting is the solution! Make loud people quiet--make annoying people have zero volume.

You didn't see the umpteen thousands of requests for this in MOD 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8?

are individual sliders that effect voice volume for each member of the party. Don't know how hard or easy this would be to eliminate as the voicechat tech is not Turbines, but is leased/borrowed. As players, we have vbeen asking for this for at LEAST 2 years now without result. This would solve the O.P's problem as well as allowing you to turn people up and down to accomodate the many differences in michrophones and sound hardware out there.

1 word: Vent

I have a friend that plays wow (yeh i know but he plays halo as well so its all good) but one thing that I do notice is that he has a vent going 100% of the time while he is playing. They just give the info for the vent and channels are up for individual parties.

some of the features of vent are exactly what everyone wants for ddo voice chat, individual volume controls, mute, ect.

vent servers are not expensive, and it is viable for every guild at the very least to have one, if not multiple people in a guild.

I was running through TR the other day. It was a newbie group, so we were taking it slow, and exploring the optionals. This means that your normal 30 minute TR run took more than an hour, which is ok, really, I enjoy the slower pace. However, it was a pug... where you never know what kinda person you're gonna get.

We had this one dude who spent the entire quest discussing how NWN and a couple other games are so good, so much better, so blahblahblah, and how level advancement should all be skill based, as thats the only blahblahblah.

Voice Squelch? Yes please.

Edited for typos!

Voice gets weird if you've got multiple people in multiple channels. Not a big deal when everyone knows the quest blindfolded, or when everyone's in the same channel, but something complicated can be a pain when half your party is in vent (or multiple vent) channels.

This is the actual suggestion I'd like to see implemented:

Allow *ME* to change the volume/gain for individual party members: That way I can make the very quiet louder, the very loud quieter, and the plain annoying silent.

Please please please.

(And yes, this has been asked before)

Signed. I get a lot of quiet voicers. I'd like to hear them but can't.

Sorry I do not agree with the quoted post at all.. The In Game Voice chat works perfectly fine.. I do not and will not be force to use vent just to run on your team, or any team. That is absurd thing to require..

Now on to the OP/ That is a fantastic idea! There are some people who have a serious case of a run away mouth that never shuts up - yet like a politician they actually never say anything worthwhile or useful... Mute would be fantastic!!!

Yup, seen them ask for volume sliders. They never did it (coding?). But just adding a MUTE button , nope. And if we can at least get that.......
