Posting a list like this is just asking for some jerk to try and snag them, but good luck getting the names you wish for.

Handfull of points.
1. Anything like this that was started by someone other than a dev is unenforceable.
2. This feels a lot like an open invitation for someone who thinks it is funny to grab the names posted here before the poster can get them. Don't worry, if they are just playing with you they may be willing to sell the name to you for a +3 tome or two.
3. It would be patently unfair to suddenly implement a reservation system without warning for something that has historically been done on a first come first serve basis. To do so without allowing or notifying ALL players about it before hand is even worse.
4. I get a real chuckle out of the fact that the OP laid out a list of names for himself at the same time as inviting others to reserve names......any names they want, except the ones he has picked.
5. If this thread gets scooped up by the devs and used as an official reservation listing, I will eat my Minos Helm, nerfed though it may be.
6. 'Calling' names in these forums then threatening to have a GM 'rename' anyone if they 'take' one of 'your' names is ludicrous. To the OP: If your names that you 'called' were in any way shape or form interesting to me, I would personally make it a point to grab all of them before you. Laying out a specious claim to something as if you were entitled to it, then threatening to resort to the authorities if you don't get your own way rubs me (and I am sure others) the wrong way.

HMM I didnt take the op that way I took them as listing names and asking people not to take them although they did suggest the dev's help with this I also noted they said if anyone has a name conflict that they should try to work in out privately.
One would hope the community would be mature enough to respect someone's wish for a particular name but we know this isnt true.

It really is a shame, because I'm sure if you hadn't done this thread, those names would be available. As it was, it was just a dare to some formum wag who would think it was funny to take them. Your only consolation is that the effort it took whoever it was to take your names meant that they lost slots for their names.
I wouldn't be surprised if you got a message in a few hours that said, "jk, lol" or something to that effect, saying that the blocking characters are deleted.

Assuming this is true, I know I would be very inclined to be an ass and take one of your names you want 'reserved'. Why? Well because, quite simply, if you are a casual player and want your footprint established just because you feel the name is a twist on intellectual property rights, you are being just as much of an ass as I am.

Here's a little tip about human nature: Threatening people only works if you are actually in a position of power (or have the perception of being in a position of power).
Imagine this scenario: A teenage boy is walking home and walks past a tiny dog.

Oh please, Top Gun was nothing more than the first real smash movie for recruiting for the Air Force and nothing less. As for the handle, and I'll forgive you for your ignorance but I took over this account when it was started as a LotRO founder's account. The gentleman became afflicted with some resembling cerebral palsey and his toon for LotRO was an alpha toon. I was asked to take ownership of it for sentimental value. Hell, I wasn't even alive in 1963, that would be another 8 years later.
As for watching Top Gun, I'm not a wannabe scientologist and have never cared for Tom Cruise 'flying a plane', drive for NASCAR, bouncing up and down on Oprah's couch or working with Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez and the rest of the crew from the Outsiders.

As for future threads, I have been shown that even the Dev Team is not immune to corruption. Therefore, I'll do all I can to avoid the forums until it's time to post something technical, or test you folks again.
