View Full Version : How Did You Prepare / What's On Your List?

With the impending launch, I am sure that this weekend was a very productive one for us all. In addition to all the new content and such, there are also lots of changes, both big and small.
I saw tons of different LFM's up over the weekend, lots of which were obvious "preparation" runs for the new mod - "SubT slayers", "Rune hunting", "Favor grinding", etc...
For me, I've been running pretty hard since Friday but mostly working on GS items & weapons. Elite Hound & VOD runs were part of my accomplishments also (good job, Gax...). Didn't get in as much as I wanted to, but alas, time is of the essence.
I'm curious to hear how a lot of you "prepared" over the weekend. Re-spec feats & enhancements due to Minos Helm change? Tweak armor since there are changes coming to it? Get that barbarian up there for Crit Rage II?
Also, interested in finding out what some of you have lined up when the servers come back online. Immediately flag and beat new raid? Level toons for capstones / prestige enhancements? Roll a Favored Soul? Check out the brand new server and roll a lowbie purely from scratch?
7AM will be here before we know it and I think we all know we're looking at 24-48 hours of downtime. I (unfortunately) have business travel Tuesday & Wednesday, so Thursday is the earliest I can get back in game. :(
So, with that said, let's see what everyone's got in mind.
Cheers :)

I've got myself a rack of ice-cold beer ready in the fridge. Normally I just get a 6-pack, but had to prepare for the big day.

Yeah...beer's not gonna cut it for this downtime.
Gonna hit the hard stuff and hold out for Tuesday. Almost sure it'll be up before I'm home from work Tuesday.

I got my main cleric within spitting distance of 2500 favor (2440 to be exact). I am hopeful that between
a) the new high-level quests
b) the lowbie quests
c) the DQ "last-ever flagging run" pre-raid and raid
I'll get there without much drama. But if not, I still have to run Sorjek on him, and any random Titan Elite run
XP wise, I didn't prep at all. The journey is the whole point for me, and it's too easy to forget and accidentally kill one too many mobs in the encounter areas.
On the other hand, I have to work late on Tuesday and Wednesday, and I'm going kayaking with my GF on thursday. Thank goodness for the long weekend coming up :D

I swapped out a couple of feats...
I got my second cleric to 1750 favor for a +2 INT tome (4 extra skill points, meh, but better than nothing)...
I stopped running the Hound and VoD on a couple of characters last week, because I noticed they were very close to 1500 and 3000 slayers respectively.. I didn't really plan it that way, but I noticed it...

The trick is to get one of those little rockers that sit on the floor... Battery powered is good, or one that you can swing with your feet....
Up until they crawl, easy to play with a baby around.... :)

Yeah, I hit 1500 on my caster and experienced that wave of "ohhhhhh....****" that has washed over a few of this the past few days.
When I noticed how close I was to 3000 on one of my toons, I said...."ehhh....let me switch" :)

i rolled a crit rage II barb, which im told is not even going to stack up after the mod :(
iv been getting as much out of the way as possible on my cleric, so i can focus on the new content.
i rolled a spellsinger but dont ever play it, looking forward to the capstone though if i ever do.
none of my new toons wear a minos helm. my AC tank gets his fort from a minII helm, my barb wears a +6 wis helm (and is WF so only requires mod fort.) my cleric wears a concentration helm and gets fort from minII goggles.
i organized my gimp toons to make them better mules. i no longer feel the need to keep running them through shroud to farm scales.
i never bothered with the soveirgn rune 'tactic' (call me old fassioned,) so nothing there, though i have been hammering on refuge stuff for my lorriks.
i repeatedly say "i cant wait to cast energy drain."
i keep mulling over rogue builds, which ill be able to make once i buy more character slots.
i thank my lucky stars that favored soul isnt that good, and that clerc is still the way to go for offensive divine spellcasting.
i mentally prepare myself for the first week of the new mod to be a complete mess. i dont think there is any way to cope if every one of my toons lose all of their inherent ability score bonuses though.

i have 1 of those but the problem is she loves to look at the screen. if i start training her now at 2mth old, she might be ready in time for mod 13 :D

Heh, good for you... my son just turned 7... I got him an account when he was 5... He loves warforged (of course), and has probably leveled 20 characters to 3rd level (where he then gets bored, and rerolls...)
Don't worry, he only solos or plays with me... I don't let him group with anyone... :)

I capped my cleric, swapped some feats out on my ranger and my bard, did some sub-t slayers, got all 4 of my characters timered out on reaver, shroud, VoD and hound, and then went running around in the desert looking for bloodstones =)

Cleared out inventory and the mailboxes last night mostly. Got everything ready so that whatever drops etc. in the new quests on Tuesday I have space for it.
That's about it......hmmm now I am feeling like I didn't do enough....

swapped the main 2 "pemps" around (moved the pure to assassin, the mutt to theif acro), retuned my bard enhancements & feats, Changed Melyanna to AA instead of deepwood.
Then cleaned out all mailboxes, inventory sent to hagglebot to sell, hagglebot sold off all.
Ran out of time (wakefull that is) to restock all with supplies, but that will be quick upon server being live

I did some MASSIVE inventory re-org across all toons. Looked for +8 weapons to use for charging up high energy cells (stockpiled about 20) and sent tons of stuff to my Bard. Was a nice chunk once all was said and done.
Can't wait to get the bard capstone. Aiming for I think a possible 42-44 max CHA. Wonder how high we'll see the haggle skills go! :)

Ah, mailbox clean-out... Yeah I did that too... Plus I made sure not to have any outstanding items on the AH, or even bids on items on the AH...
But then I'm in charge of DR at my company, so I always prepare for the worst...

The only thing I did was place my 2 capped characters in front of the guy who ports you to Threnal, so they can kill some giants, wolves and ogres for level 17...
then they can get on to the real questing!
All my other characters just hang out at the mailbox in the marketplace waiting for their turn to smite the evil of Ebberon.

In no particular order:
-grab 1 XP on my wizard and play around with all the new lvl 9 spells! Not sure if I'm more excited about Mass Hold Monster or Wail of the Banshee.
-grab 1 XP on my intimitank and figure out what PrEs I'm going to grab and play around with those!
-explore new content before everyone and their mother knows it backwards and forwards (**** YOU LAMANNIA!)
-level my Ghoste-inspired WF Wiz/Rog more and find out whether I can solo Monastery all sneaky-like
-starting leveling my newer more paladany intimitank who I left at level 7 so I could try the Defender of Siberys PrE as I level

Very cool pic, but you are missing the one essential piece of gear any gaming father must own, a Baby Bjorn. Hands free and your progeny can sit facing you or the world.

Several folks talked about cleaning out their mailboxes........
Am i the only one that "cleans as i go"? I never have full mailboxes, unless i'm doing desert runs and mail stuff to hagglebot at end of runs.
I log onto each toon at beginning of every day, redo auctions, empty mailbox, restock supplies. this gives me time to decide what i want to do, find out who's turn it is and where in the desert, and plan my gaming day. Then i play the auction house and vendors. Then i'm done with maint. Every couple days i hit the other servers, rinse and repeat procedure. Rest of the day is spent playing. Mail off stuff to appropriate toon after every quest, repair after every quest, REORGANIZE ALL MY PACK SPACES after every quest lol, begin new quest when all refreshed and organized....
Am i doing it wrong lol.
How many folks use the mailbox as inventory space and what the heck do you have that fills up every space you have so that you have to do it. (Curiosity question).

My weekend was a bit different. Ended up burning Friday and Saturday hanging with friends that were getting ready to move to college, and Sunday was the State Fair here in Minnesota, so I didn't log in.
However, I spread word about DDO:EU's upcoming launch around a bit on a rather good-sized forum. Got a few people's interest piqued that are saying they're gonna check it out once F2P is up and running.
Might not hit 17 or anything like that immediately, but I don't mind. So long as I helped out with getting a few more players, and potentially buyers/subscribers, I don't mind. ;P

Heh, I think you know you play a LOT more than the rest of us... You're definitely more organized.
I only go through each character's mailbox maybe once a week... I have mailed things to my own lowbies that get returned to me after not being opened...
Haggle bard is the only character I log into every day (usually at the end of my day), and sell stuff (otherwise his mailbox gets full).
I don't use the mailboxes for storing stuff.. I just don't check each character's mailbox every single day..
For me, everytime I finish a quest I mail off high-priced weapons to my bard... I mail off small and medium ingrediants to another guy, large ingrediants to a third person, and vale ingrediants to a fourth guy...
If I picked up a good lowbie item, I'll mail it to one of my lowbies or to my mule...
But I don't immediately log into that other character and get the item out of the mailbox... I just get to it whenever...

I'm a clean as you go kind of guy, but with the hagglebot and mules there's just no point in logging into them for one or two items. I hadn't logged into my hagglebot since Friday, so I had to clear out that 130k pp worth of items he had in his mailbox :D
Then there was the Siberys and Eberron shards that I'd mailed to my mule. For some reason the shroud and sub-t decided to be really droppy yesterday.
As for all the respeccing/refeating...I'd did that months ago to be ready for the launch that was supposed to happen at the three year anniversary :)
On Friday while there was a lull I restocked potions/wands/scrolls/components on all my characters

When I log onto a character, if I have mail, I check it and clear it out. When I'm playing, if I receive mail, I go check it and clear it out, but I make take no deliberate action in dealing with my mail. As a result, I occasionally get mailed bounced, even back to other characters of mine who were sharing items with lowbies.
As for the other stuff...I tend to spend less and less time doing auction/vendor/broker stuff on my characters--I'd rather be questing, so I tend to reserve that kind of stuff for down time between quests or while waiting for a group to fill.

we didn't do much that was special. stock piled a bunch of collectable to see what happens with those, ground out some stuff we were missing for favor.
earlier though we rolled up some support characters and got them to 4th level. one of the things we are looking forward to with the FTP is a lot of people we know will be signing in and joining our guild. Its going to be alot of fun!
