Question about the mail system...

I have 4 toons on one server. I want to be able to trade things between them like I do in WOW by mailing items and money through the mail system.

However, it seems that the game does not let you do this? Or am I just doing it wrong? It says that the character I am trying to mail to does not exist.

Any help would be appreciated.

use just the firstname, then you can easily mail items between your chars
and dont make typos

Only one item can be mailed at a time, and if items are mailed, the postage fee increases.

In addition, only 9999pp 9999gp 9999sp 9999cp can be mailed at any given time (so thats 11,108.88 pp)

To avoid these barriers, find a friend who's willing to help you out for a few minutes. Just trade the items to him, then have him trade them back to you later.

Of course, thanks to the shared bank tab (coming for VIPs), you will be able to just store them in the shared back tab (to a maximum of 25 items, iirc) and take them back out later.

if the mailbox works for those, yes

the postage rates are 1sp for cash and 2% of item value for other stuff.

bags full of collectables or ingredients can also be sent (making crafting easier)

some people even send items to be vendored to a character with a high haggle skill, which more than offsets the postage cost and over time yields a surprizing ammount of loot. These same haggle characters are used to purchase stacks of consumables (potions and such) and then send these to other characters to save money...

Also, VIP's (at least) will be getting a shared 20-slot bank account when Mod 9 (DDO:U) hits on Sept 1st, so you can trade stuff to your characters on your server for free. Doesn't trade between servers, but still cool.
