Before I start.

I'd like to point out that this is just my opinion..Im not asking anyone to back me up or dis me...just keep an open mind.

In my humble opinion i'd like to state why I feel this game is drying up.

I call it the "meh" Factor.

This is probberly because its 3years+ old and the mods are so few and far between..but playing computer games such as this normally gives players a sence of "worth" when playing.

The feeling that their evenings and weekends playing DDO is time well spent...but resently...when I plan to spend some time on the game.

After a few mins in and I feel there is nothing to offer me no new experience, no rewarding romp (as its all been done before) and no "spark" that kept me playing before.

Yes DDO : EU is "going gold"....but to me its "growing old" and there seems to be no cure for it at the moment.:(

Thanks for Reading.

Have to disagree with your premise: I don't feel the game is drying up.

3 years is not that long. The game I left is on its 10th year and still in play.

I'm also a casual+ gamer, avg 1 quest per day. Been playing for a year now and still have all the 10th lvl & above quests to look fwd too.

But honestly, to my asumption atleast half the playbase if not way more. Meh......honestly about sums up ddo. If this game was anything but DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, I would have been gone a long time ago. I'll happily admit that the name of this game is about the only thing left that keeps me paying.

I'd gladly build you a game and name it Dungeons and Dragons Anyway You Want It, it'll be small but have really cool features, and I'll only charge you $8 bucks a month.

That is if you really like to pay for the name of the game...:D

As MMORPGs are havens for the chronically depressed, the "Meh!" factor is unavoidable. Nuclear war is "Meh!" to the same people.

If you are bored, change guilds, or uproot your play style.

Try permadeath for instance.

www.extremeexplorers.guildportal.com

We are a Sarlona-based Permadeath guild with a great group of players that have at least one person on most of the time, but we really spike up in population in the evenings.

You permadeathers are worse then the Jehovah's Witnesses or those freaky AMWAY people. Is permadeath some kind of pyramid scheme? I'm expecting some permadeather to show up at my doorstep at dinner time trying to get me to read his pamphlet...

All in jest, btw. Much respect foe the permadeath players! :D

I cant blame the game for my feelings of Meh even if I really want to. Point blank trying to make lemonade with the lemons life seems to be dumping on me right now and finding I have no sugar to make it sweet.

Life sucks I come to play ddo to get away from that aspect for a little while and find that the game has become repetitive and boring. That the flashy new stuff they keep talking about seems far away and every time we get close to it being there something messes it up. (And yes I know there was only one established release date but mod 9 has been bandied about for awhile I played in the new content on the first issue of Lama I took pictures of Amrath so why is it were still waiting?)

Turbines constant lack luster approach with ddo just mirrors the daily garbage I deal with and its made me grow cynical and now apathetic towards anything they post concerning the game. I know its on me and ive admitted such. But its sad that just a year ago hearing the game going Gold would have made me smile and supportive and now im just in /shrug mode :(

And I shouldnt have to repeat my own personal history with this game but needless to say I didnt rush to where I got. I played my main Kalari from nov 07 till about june 08 exclusively only trying out test builds of other classes not even getting them past 4. Then I began working on other girls and before I knew it all ten slots on my main server was full and I have 6 capped 1 a orb away from capped 2 mid levels and a place holder for my stuff and druid name (haha I know yea right) then on Thelanis I have a few mid levels and lowbie builds. And on other servers when I want to play anonymous a few builds. So this isnt the ranting of a super power gamer who rushes threw everything. This is from a girl who spent a long time learning the game playing the class/race I wanted to play despite it not being "optimal" by most standards and finding my own enjoyment and im bored.

Game must of run its course with you, happens to most of us in any game we play.

WoW EQ UO, all ran their course with me. Just leave rather then trying to chase the feeling you expect, you won't get it until you are gone for a long time and come back refreshed.

You know, you'd get more quests done each day if you didn't wait in line to talk to the bartender. :D
