View Full Version : Put some awesome named items in Prey Dragon chest

Someone else mentioned this in another thread, but I think it deserves a thread of it;s own....

There's a huge two dragon fight in this game that is very rarely run. It could definitely be used as additional end-game content, but there's no point in running it...

Chest loot tables are worthless at end-game, so a few extra chests doesn't mean anything. Now, add a couple of awesome named items to those chests, and suddenly, you've just added some more content for the capped characters to run...

chance at dragon scales not enough for ya? ;)

they seem to have a higher drop rate in those chests than in the Tor.

The loot in ALL the reaver refusge chests sucks. Other than seeing a +2 tome in the end reward lists on occation, theres no real reason to run those quests unless your into the Lottery crafting for some reason.

Some Named loot and a collectable/Crafting system other than the secret lottery would be a welcome addition to those quests.

Yeah, that's a separate issue... How come the loot in the Shroud chests is so much better than any of the loot in the Refuge? Even SoS drops **** loot in the chests.. End-rewards are decent, but all the chests are terrible.

The chests in the refuge are vendor trash, and I only see them as a chance at a +2 tome.

But the Devs put a named item (toothpick, gag item) for NOT fighting the dragons, but nothing if you DO?

After seeing the beat-down the dragon was getting from the giants, a few friends of mine decided how hard could it be? That was a nasty surprise when she called her mate and watching the HP bar barely move from a crit FW.

Had two casters, plus myself as a melee (all WF, so no cleric needed :) ) Caster would take turns throwing down a FW and keeping my butt alive. When one was out the other would take over and the first would recall out for mana. Took us a while but we got em down finally.

And all I have to show for it was something to throw in my Bio and a Potion of Wonder and a white dragon scale (keeping it as a memento and reminder NOT to do that again)

I disagree on the loot thingy though, i pulled a +2 WOP rapier & longbow from that quest.... not quite vendor trash.

I am still a little confused as to why they didn't even put in a second tempest rune for killing the dragons. You can solve a puzzle and get 2 eldritchs but killing dragons cannot get ya 2 tempests?

I do agree though that something special and worthwhile needs to be in the Dragons horde.

If you consider chances on wop rapiers and the ilk worthless, then I don't see how the shroud could be any different in that regards. If you only wanna say that random loot is worthless throughout the whole game, that is a separate issue on its own...


To the op, /signed, lets make another garamol loot run, or just added tempest runes, idc. (if rune, it should be 100% drop rate, as in every other rune chests).

Shroud chests seem better for one reason.

In a Shroud completion, you see 144 chests opened (12 per player x12 players).

In a normal Prey run, you see 6 or 12 (Kalijarne's chest and maybe the optional tunnel chest per player). Even a Sor'jek run has only 30 chest openings.

So in a typical Shroud run, you see one or more notable items quite often (it's not rare for you to see two +2 tomes drop, for instance). In a Prey run, or even SoS, this happens rarely.

Not sure if this is what you meant, but I really like the idea of having the Raiments drop there. 1% normal, 3% hard, 5% elite (per player). Would create a reason to run this fight.
