hello, i wanted to get some things straight about purchasing henchmen.
ive gotten the message "contract is expired or depleted" a couple times now and want to figure out why so i can avoid that and not waste gold.
first i tried buying the same cleric twice so i had two of them. I summoned one, it died, so i tried to summon the second cleric but it said "contract expired". I had to delete the contract out of my inventory and run back to town to buy a new one.
so then the next time i tried to buy two different clerics.
one lvl 1 cleric, and one lvl 2. i summoned the lvl 2 and it died so i tried to summon the lvl 1 to replace it, but got the message "contract is expired" and i had to delete it just like the previous time.

so what are the rules in regards to buying henchmen? can you buy more then one at a time? does it have to be totally different henchmen and different class?
ok thxs for any help

ok i tried it again

i bought Steel the level one fighter and a level three barbarian.
I summoned the Barbarian, then I died. So i then tried to summon the fighter.
I clicked on the contract in my inventory and it said "Contract : Steel is depleted"

so im pretty sure that you cannot have more then one henchman contract in your inventory.
which is kinda strange because i remember reading a webpage where someone talked about keeping multiple henchmen in your inventory for different needs.

the other question i wanted to ask....is ok to be spending lots of money on henchmen?
my wizard is addicted to henchmen and ive spent hundreds of gold so far, maybe even over a thousand now. and i can now hire level 3's which cost 225G. so it could get costly.
Im just not sure what gold sinks this game has or what large expenses i need to save gold for. so far it seems that there isnt anything that im going to need lots of gold for.

The hireling contract is like a spell clickie - Before you can use another contract, you have to shrine, or recharge in the bar.

It's OK to use hirelings allot, but try to get the most mileage out of them. If they die, grab their stones and have them rez at the next shrine. It takes a little practice to keep them alive - monsters tend to go right after them and they are not tough enough to take a real pounding. If they get agro try to take out the monsters attacking them. If you are using a cleric, park him/her out of harm's way, and either go back to them for heals, or call them to come to you when it is reasonably safe.

Enjoy, and welcome to the game!

doh...i was deleting the contracts out of my inventory. i guess i shoulda figured that "depleted" meant that it could recharge. but it just didnt occur to me that a contract is a rechargable item.

so far gold seems to be plentiful and there isnt any need for it except repair bills and supplies.
buying henchmen is my biggest expense lol. as long as i dont have some super expensive thing that ill need gold for later on, then i wont worry about it
