Recently, I have begun to discuss things with other player such as the way the game seems to be changing and where we're heading. One of the more recent discussions quickly turned to raid loot and we came to the conclusion that much of the old raid loot is no longer desireable, at all. One way we thought of to get rid of this was to possibly allow for some of the older raids' (Dragon, Titan, DQ) weaker items to be made 'bound to account' and given lower min lvls. Basically, this would provide some incentive for getting these otherwise filler items that hold little to no value in the current game. Some of the items were once useful to some extent, but recent increases in power at low lvls (korthos loot, stronger low lvl named loot, mod 9 twink weapons) have rendered them useless.
Bound to account abbreviated bta for less typing and btc=bound to character ;)
I will skip over some loot as I'm lazy :D
Dragon:
-Azure, Silver and Crimson Necklaces (never really sought after with caster potency items having had no min lvl at the time of their release-maybe give them min lvl 5/7? and bta?)
-Docent of Grace (Still a stat 5 item, but rr ones from random loot can be acquired cheaply enough on ah these days, so make this lvl 8 req and bta?)
-Ruby Gauntlets (let's face it, these have never held any value as the spell just sucks in this game and monster hp reduces these to cheap fireworks in this game, but by making them bta and giving them a ml5 they may be semi useful for a 1 big shot at those low lvls, whereas they're useless beyond lighting torches in Inferno now)
Some of the loot should still remain btc like:
-Sword of Shadows (still nice item)
-Kundarak Boots (Still extremely powerful item)
-Stonemeld FP (DR5 is nothing to laugh at and it looks cool ;)
-Ring of Persuasion (still a decent item imo and could be useful to newer players ala umd)
-Belt of Moranon (still debating if this belt holds much value beyond a simple stat 6 item as one can acquire heavy fort now at lvls 8-9 easily enough-could be bta ml9 possibly?)
-Hammer of Life is still a relatively unique effect on it and I like it as raid loot, not overpowering, but useful none-the-less
-Kundarak Delving Suit at one time was the best non mfp in game and highly sought after, but today it only serves a purpose at a few midlvls and could possibly be made bta witha ml of 8-10 with no issues as people go into gianthold at those lvls and 1 ac is still gonna have ya getting hit there
Titan:
-Battle Coin had a unique effect for a while as the only competence bonus to-hit outside of the bracers from madstone, but korthos has rendered it less than useless with the goggles of insight(?) or the necklace of contemplation from CoK, so it could be made bta w/no ml offering only a slight upgrade over these items with the 2 mini heals
-The 2 heavy armors here could easily be made bta (ml8-10?) as they have no overpowered effects on them. The immunity to lightning bolt from the 1 set really becomes a non-issue as mobs step up to casting chain lightning later on anyway.
-Bereavement Seriously, name me someone that actually used these things like they were good. Seeker 10, okay nice effect. Keen? again decent, but not on a weapon with a crit range of just 20. This thing NEEDS to be made bta and given a ml of like 6-8 just to raise the possibility of someone not making this vendor trash to more than 0%.
-Visor of Concentration nothing overpowered and could be made bta ml9 and serve as an okay pre-quicken item
-Rattle Charm make it bta ml5 for all i care, no one will use it beyond poison immunity which can be gained at lvl 1 w/pots
-Several items in this raid are still very powerful and highly sought after even today. The chattering ring, belt of brute strength, jungle cloak, Seven Fingered Gloves, Skull Fetish Mask, and even the robe are quite powerful, though a case could be made to have the robe bta w/ml 8-10. These items should remain btc imo as they do give some incentive for running the raid multiple times in hopes of getting them.
DQ:
-Storm a crossbow, any crossbow, should be made bta and possibly stripped of ml just to make them appealing. They fire slow, deal less dmg than bows due to lack of bow str/many shot and are more feat intensive than bows. While at one time unique, it is still a crossbow and could use any boost it could get.
-I feel the rest of the items in this raid are still useful to some extent. Some of them are very nice and give enough reason to run the raid. Plus, mod 9 is eliminating reflagging, so they'll be even easier to acquire.
