View Full Version : What one spell,buff..
What one spell, buff, enchantment would you like to have available in RL to help you do your job/work better or more efficiently?
I would have to say Dominate Person for me (upper level management in a medium sized corporation).

Heh, who wants to work?
Take Heal or Remove Disease, or Raise Dead, and make a fortune saving the world.... However, it's a VERY big world... that could get pretty tiresome after a while... There would be a LOT of people wanting to see you every single day...
So go the criminal route... Invisibility or Knock...

Does it have to be a DDO spell? Or even a buff? If just DnD, I choose:
Simulacrum
Illusion (Shadow)
Level: Sor/Wiz 7
Components: V, S, M, XP
Casting Time: 12 hours
Range: 0 ft.
Effect: One duplicate creature
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No
Simulacrum creates an illusory duplicate of any creature. The duplicate creature is partially real and formed from ice or snow. It appears to be the same as the original, but it has only one-half of the real creature’s levels or Hit Dice (and the appropriate hit points, feats, skill ranks, and special abilities for a creature of that level or HD). You can’t create a simulacrum of a creature whose Hit Dice or levels exceed twice your caster level. You must make a Disguise check when you cast the spell to determine how good the likeness is. A creature familiar with the original might detect the ruse with a successful Spot check (opposed by the caster’s Disguise check) or a DC 20 Sense Motive check.
At all times the simulacrum remains under your absolute command. No special telepathic link exists, so command must be exercised in some other manner. A simulacrum has no ability to become more powerful. It cannot increase its level or abilities. If reduced to 0 hit points or otherwise destroyed, it reverts to snow and melts instantly into nothingness. A complex process requiring at least 24 hours, 100 gp per hit point, and a fully equipped magical laboratory can repair damage to a simulacrum. Material Component: The spell is cast over the rough snow or ice form, and some piece of the creature to be duplicated (hair, nail, or the like) must be placed inside the snow or ice. Additionally, the spell requires powdered ruby worth 100 gp per HD of the simulacrum to be created.
XP Cost: 100 XP per HD of the simulacrum
to be created (minimum 1,000 XP).

Sure! It can somewhat think for itself, anyway, though.

Heh, how many HD and hit points do you have? Half as strong as you, one trip, and it might dissolve into snow...

Yikes! With gold at $1000/ounce, the material component might be a deal-breaker :)

That sounds like a really good way to get fired. Although if your workplace subscribes to the Dilbert school of upper management, it may also be a really good way to get promoted.

If I was the only person on Earth to get the ability? Ressurection and watch the plat pile up.
If everyone had an ability? Probably death pact.

Haste, Bulls Strength, Fly, Foxes Cunning, Eagles Splendor, Jump, Any Healing or Rez spell would all be cool. For me in my real life, haste would probably be the most useful, or possibly Eagles Splendor for negotiating contracts and being a better boss... also wouldnt it be like getting a +2 on the attractiveness scale that would never hurt a single person ;)

Ball Lightning (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Ball_Lightning) - Well you can lighten your teeth.
Banishment (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Banishment) & Magic Circle Against Evil (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Magic_Circle_Against_Evil) - Great for everyday use against your spouse, kids, boss, co-workers, etc.
Blur (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Blur) - This spell already exists IRL. It's called booze.
Cloudkill (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Cloudkill) - Another RL spell that exists in bathrooms all over the world.
Command (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Command), Command Undead (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Command_Undead), Raise Dead (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Raise_Dead), Ram's Might (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Ram%27s_Might), Remove Paralysis (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Remove_Paralysis), Restoration (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Restoration) - all could work wonders in the bedroom if you know what I mean. *wink wink*
Dimension Door (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Dimension_Door) - This I would use constantly. Gotta go to the can? DD (though I supose a portable hole would work just fine). Need to get some beer at the store? DD. etc.
Divine Favor (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Divine_Favor), Greater Heroism (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Greater_Heroism), Halt Undead (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Halt_Undead), Hold Monster (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Hold_Monster), Hypnotic Pattern (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Hypnotic_Pattern), Mind Fog (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Mind_Fog), - these are all necessary and must ALL be used when your woman decides to pick a fight with you.
Ooze Puppet (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Ooze_Puppet) - Well, it'd be in really, really bad taste to put down what I'm thinking for this one.
Seek Eternal Rest (http://forums.ddo.com/wiki/Spell:Seek_Eternal_Rest) - the last spell you'll ever cast.

whee fun post time
Id have to go with teleport maybe greater teleport since id want to be able to bring my kid with me where I go and heck could charge people fees. Granted id have to spend time traveling to get it to work right (if were going by ddo's version) But once I had a few good vacation destinations committed to memory id put several airlines out of business :)
Scared of planes? Dont be afraid come jump to your vacation spot with Teleporters Inc. hehe

Disintegrate could be fun. Help clean up waste, and make clearing out rubble a heck of a lot easier. Wall of Force too. Help keep out unwanted things and damage. Also a stop measure to Disintegrate.
And Control Weather. Stop Tornado's and Hurricanes, as well as bring much needed rain to arid and drought regions.

That 3% failure rate could be pretty nasty (since you don't have feather fall in RL)

Greater Heroism, of course - who wouldn't do their job better with +4 morale & +4 to all skills?
But for my particular job, I'd have to go with one that's not in DDO - Rary's Telepathic Bond. What I wouldn't give for a means to communicate with people who don't speak any language at all...

Who needs magic for that?! A good curry will do the trick just fine.
For my choice - I'd have to go with Teleport, Greater as well.
I love to travel.
Might need Tongues as well, though. Bugger :/

Greater command might be fun for packed foot traffic (think tokyo or ny)
stoneskin/barkskin if I was an MMA fighter
telekenesis would be fun as a soccer goalie
I am really surprised no one mentioned Polymorph Self though, that HAS to be about as awesome as can be.... No really, I don't care what is on the bank video, I was at home sleeping!
