View Full Version : Why no tech support?

My Stormreach client has not worked for about 2 weeks. In that time I have been emailing back and forth with tech support and have tried about 6-7 different fixes, most of which entail me turning off or on UAC or some other little piece of computer voodoo.
My question is this, why does turbine not offer any better technical support? :(

Ultimately, they are probably going to tell you that you should re-install your operating system, or, if you can, runa system restore back to a date prior to the problems (assuming you have system restore enabled).

Figure this...in the 2 weeks you've waiting to get this problem resolved, you could have re-installed your OS and the DDO client, and leveled a toon to 16 ;)

I would suggest a uninstall and reinstall. There are so many little things that can go wrong it would take even the most computer savvy to diagnose.

Fall back and regroup.

Uninstall and install has happened several times in the past 2 weeks, even before it was recomended by turbine, so that's moot.

Why no tech support?

Tech support costs money. Turbine doesn't have the money due to low content output.

People usually just think tech support is poor because they cant fix their specific problem.

Fact of the matter is, your issue probobly has little to nothing to do with anything in Turbines code/game. Its nearly immpossible to get tech support help for a reasonable rate that understand everything that can possibly go wrong inside of windows.

I would sugest you post your issues here where a wider scope of people can take a look and see if we can offer some assistance as well.

I've posted in the tech support forums. I am asking why no tech support. It does not have to be a large group as there don't appear to be that many problems. If you look at the tech support forum, there are few posts everyday. Why not give a # you can call to try and solve problems. It is very frustrating to wait a day for a response to an email. I have not been able to log into the Stormreach server in more than 2 weeks. Issue began the day there were problems with the lamania update.

How about this. Anybody else have trouble with tech support?

If you have a serious problem it will be three business days before they get back to you.

In that three days time, I can diagnose the problem myself, uninstall, reinstall.

If you found a bug in the game they never send a thank you for finding it.

If you have a stuck character, they never rush to save you.

It is at their liesure.

Since I understand that problems are a low priority for Turbine, then I will not sweat the details.

Now, for your problem.

Is the system worknig as it did before on everything else except for Turbine? Do you play any other games? If so, do they work?

Your firewall, has it been checked?

Have you played on Lammania?

How about running the little goofy TurbineRegisterGDF application in your turbine directory?

Your firewall, has it been checked? REchecked firewall so I could answer truthfully that this is not the issue.

Have you played on Lammania? Yes I can play on lamania

How about running the little goofy TurbineRegisterGDF application in your turbine directory? Did the GDF app. and get an error code 0x0008#####.
"Rambin" posted same issue as mine in the tech support forums. Up until todays reinstall it hung @ examine programs. Today it began hanging at open main form.

This answer constitutes the equivalent of assuming a snarky answer is a good one. Turbine has tech support and good tech support IF it deals with their code and how it operates inside certain operating systems.
