As many of you likely know, the openal32.dll and wrap in the DDO game dir are now at least _two_ versions outdated. Manually overwriting these files is useless, as the game will reinstall the old ones the very next time you run it. People have been having openAL crashes forever with this game- how about letting the user get the correct updated files in there (or Turbine should just do it in a quick file update)???. Not going to go into all the openal problems peeps have been having w/various OSs and the outdated .dlls - suffice to say it's a major issue THAT CANNOT BE TROUBLESHOOTED CORRECTLY becuase the client keeps overwriting the #@$&'ing updated .dlls that I manually put in there... any ideas? insights? Someone/somewhere I can post this to/at that will give me a competent, technically-accurate reply?

and it can only be avoided by using software accel sound in the game. Don't really want to go into it too much re:symptoms- it's a problem many experience. Do a google search or two and you'll find many LotR peeps complaining about it too. It's _probably_ all about the openAL32.dll and the wrapper .dll, but who knows 'cause it's impossible to replace them with the updated versions and therefore impossible to accurately troubleshoot. Anyone have insights?

Openal32.dll and wrap_oal.dll are both Creative Labs programs most likely linked to the EAX function in the game. If this is the case Turbine would have to update the file. The updated version may not be compatible with the current game build.
