View Full Version : So I put up a shroud

The server seemed pretty quiet tonight so a cleric friend of mine talked me into forming a shroud . No problem i thought how hard could it be , we filled in semi quick time not bad for off peak timings I took anyone who hit up my lfm
My lfm was a relaxed shroud nice and easy completion we'd a few quality players in the group so I thought all would be good .
(part1) No real trouble had two casters one pretty new to playing the shroud but other than that all was good .
(part2) Usual brief all meet in south west and we'll take it from there , this is where things went all pete tong. Whilst trying to explain the tactic (one person only go and see who we got) and type or communicate in party chat who the four mobs are , we'd three people up flitting around when only one was needed . No probs if you know what you're doing all I got to see with reference to what we had was "devil" no others then one imbecile pulled the mobs early before the green light had been called.
We smashed them after a bit of a tangle and reset but while we where recovering sp and what not same guy pulls them again without waiting on orders .
Long story short after two resets we were third time lucky.
(part3) No real dramas .
(part 4) Brief explanation of what was required couple of webs nothing spectacular. Guess what! we never got the chance to get cc down this certain individual steams straight in and pulls the mobs from the center .No biggy mobs went down fast and we roll the fiend up after 2.1 rounds .
(part 5) No real drama until the pitter was nearly dead i called for a dd to let those that wanted to get out out and categorically stated not to hit the alter no sooner had I said that when you know who activates and quest complete .
Excuse given i can hear you most of the time
Too all who where involved thanks for helping me out except the guilty party .
People beware of this person and his guild !

Petegunn was being kind-hearted in his descriptions. Everytime instructions would be started this person took it as a cue to go straight off to someplace different and make things hairy. Very, very frustrating when one person continuously makes something a pita.

pulling mobs straight out from pt3-portal is kinda status quo, isnt it?
shrouds are boringly predictable as it is, even with jokes such as "save the kobold(who havent spawned)".. or someone crazy pulling centre in pt2 just for a laugh(if 3-4 ppl in the shroud knows his **** its going to be oki anyway, no?
hitting the altar in pt5 is a sign of total lack of respect.. but I also think you can mention if your going to jump out when pt5 is done(in 98.99% this is the case anyway).
edit: I wouldn´t be surprised if this was a refugee from the keeper servers.. remember a guy named rock[insert suffix] used to this all the time(exept for the pt5 blooper).. some whined at him for it "and wouldnt play with him again" *sob sob*.. but most of us liked the attitude, and soon his examples became kinda standard even in pugs (unless the pug was a horrible setup ofc).

Its a great compliment to all who where involved that we where able to pull this shroud of without wiping because of said individual . But no these weren't the plans that I had in mind for my shroud .
Its all well and good if you set up a guild fun run with pugs not in the know , but this was far from it , all I wanted was a nice easy completion and for some pugs to get their loots with minimum fuss . We even allowed a monk in who was level 15 ^^ j/k
Individual proved that there is an I in team .

Sorry to hear about your run... Sadly this has been happening more and more often.... usually because someone wants to complete as fast as possible and move on, but due to so many not being on, due to the mod delay, they are forced to join random PuGs, instead of running with like minded people. This means more and more groups having at least one of these people in them, even the "teaching PuGs". Worse, there are even some who join to grief the party, just out of boredom.
Had a very similar run with a player who didn't speak english... "join Invite guild Me want I" and no voice chat. Repeatedly this guy caused similar problems... At least until the clerics took control.... After several issues, they stopped healing and rezing him until times when he couldn't do any harm. I normally wouldn't condone such actions, but the guy was more dangerous than the mobs. and with people wanting to leave before completion, the only way for the party leader to make sure the alter wasn't clicked before people were out was to let him die when the "harry" was at 5%... after everyone who wanted to leave was out, then he raised him.
Sadly until the new mod is released, expect more of this. (and possibly after too)

someone crazy pulling centre in pt2 just for a laugh(if 3-4 ppl in the shroud knows his **** its going to be oki anyway, no?
When someone pulls the center 'by accident' in part 2 reguarly, they won't get accepted to any of my shrouds in the future. Sometimes you end up with a sub-optimal group in shrouds and this type of thing can slow down part 2, make clerics start using consumables, or if its a really bad group wipe the party.
I used to have to say "don't run in the middle of the next part" because people who 'accidentally' pulled the middle would say I didn't tell them not to. Now I have to tell the same people "don't check the mobs from the south" because at least once every 6 runs someone hits the middle in part 2 while trash mobs are not dead. Yes you can check the mobs from the south, but its amazing how many people mess that up.
That's the kind of thing that makes putting together pug raid groups not worth the bother. If it happened more often, I'd give up on leading any pug shroud raids and go with guild only and shortman it if necessary.
pm me also please. I do a lot of Pugging, and I like to avoid the Riff Raff and trouble makers.

Some shrouds pop the ddoors early, when Harry still has 5% or so left, and people get while the getting is good. Cuts down on accidents.
But, yeah, sounds like the guy was an ass-hat.

Well.. I can understand why you think like this in a bad pug(as the case was).. or if the guildies on your group are on their wrong classes and the dps and self-reliance is lacking in the party... aka sub-par group.
What you dont lack here on the US-server is ppl who doesnt have good leadership... but sometimes even that can be a bit ---eurmm... I mean in one of my, so far, 6 pugshroud completions we had like 8 rangers with mintus and we still slowpoked instead of just rushing it like you guys, so exellently, do on normal q´s ... "less talk, more rush" should have applied in that case...
