On a whim, I decided to go stealthing around Bring Me the Head of Ghola Fan this weekend. I ran this quest months ago to flag for Titan but didn't remember a bit about it. I ran it at zerg speed with a bunch of folks interested in nothing other than flagging.

So with no knowledge of what to do or where to go, I head in. I quickly discover the quest involves passing through several doors while collecting crests to open other doors. Ugh....doors...every rogue's nightmare. Or not!

I was pleasantly surprised, nay, SHOCKED to find these doors were very different from the rest of the doors in DDO. They were locked and could be bashed open or picked and opened. No big deal, right? Wrong! The major difference with these doors is that unlocking them also opens them. This is may not seem like a big deal until you realize that picking a lock doesn't take you out of stealth. Woot!

Why aren't more dungeons designed this way? These are the perfect dungeon doors. They can be bashed open by a party interested in speed or picked open by a party or players interested in a slower, more subtle approach.

Ghola Fan is a great quest even without these wonderful doors but the doors really made me a happy rogue!

Nice observation.

Possible way to further integrate *shudder* DA.

Perhaps using the key and/or picking the lock does nothing to the DA alert level.

Bashing down doors puts you at DA level 1 or 2...and/or spawns additional bad guys...maybe...

I think if you check around a bit there are other quests (Trial by Fire is one) where this is also true. I believe in most cases if it is a door that can be bashed, you can pick it to have it open quietly and not leave sneak mode.

I'm all for making new ways for stealth, but I want zero to do with the DA.
