Now, would you consider having DDO: Eberron Unlimited hitting other platforms, say the Mac or Xbox 360?

Fernando Paiz:
We absolutely consider it. We don’t have anything to announce at this time, but we’re looking into all of that.

Oh god , our game will be like cod3 on ps3, with all the kids screaming in voicechat...
Hmmm maybe it would bring in enough $$$$$ , to get more than a mod a year in !

I'd love it. I have a lot of buddies who would play on XBOX 360 who are not into maintaining computers. There are plenty of people who play xbox who would be a perfect fit for this game. As far as kids go, reputations travel quickly and /squelch works fine. Its not like joining a random room in a fps, the process is more personal. Not to mention cross platform worked fine for FFXI. :)

The active combat system lends itself to being ported to console and i am sure they took a good look at it. In the long run the will come to the same conclusion everyone else does, if they haven't already.

To make a successfull Console based MMO, it has to be built for the consoles from day 1. There are just to many differences in the UI and, more importantly, the players mentality that have to be handled..

Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

Think their beta testing this now and no absolute proof it will work nationwide as proposed but check out the partners for OnLive....

What do you think they are doing now?

They are slowly changing this game to fit into a console game, Just a few more mods and before you know it we will be playing on Xbox or PS3.

I've heard that that list is a little, shall we say, hopeful rather than accurate. I heard from a gaming podcast in the know (Giant Bomb) that the OnLive folks basically went to the companies and said, "If we can make you a ton of money through this new medium, would you maybe be interested in it?" If they said, "Yeah, I guess, get me some specifics and we'll talk in the future" then they were placed as an unqualified YES by OnLive.

Yah, its still a wait and see. I'm interested though to find out what is so special about the video compression algorithm they are promoting. I watched the demo from the developers conference and some follow-up stuff when they were set up near E3 this spring and reports so far say it works. Still, running it with a couple hundred people within 350 miles of the servers is not the same as 1,000,000 users a thousand plus miles apart.

I see you have a link to an interview on Turbine and console gaming but I'm not a premium member on TenTonHammer so will have to wait till tomorrow to read what Turbine is revealing.

Yeah, I'm waiting on TTH too.

I think OnLive is not meant to be played by a million people a thousand miles apart. The idea is to have people close enough to the servers to not struggle with lag, with servers dotting the landscape as they can commercially. Expect it to be in the big cities at first.

I've also read that you will need a consistent 1.5 mb sustained stream to be able to play. So, say you have a 5mb dsl connection that occasionally drops below 1.5, you won't be able to play OnLive without problems.

I've heard that Online is looking to partner with a big cable company or satellite company instead of offering their own business service as well.

Here's a link to one Onlive forum site that shows the coverage for Onlive. It is based on the originally announced three server sites and they have since added New York. I gather there will be five total servers at launch so one more still needs to be announced (rumor/hope on the site is Colorado).

I've been watching the Time-Warner split from AOL which is moving closer to happening ( http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/djf500/200907271828DOWJONESDJONLINE000619_FORTUNE5.htm ) and been wondering if and how Time-Warner is going to move forward with their cable network. Interesting developments there as well.

As before, its all wait and see and pure speculation on my part :)

"Quoted from the article...

The "founding father of video games" is coming out of "retirement" and returning to development with the upcoming free-to-play RTS/FPS hybrid Battleswarm: Field of Honor. Atari (and Chuck E. Cheese) founder and Pong creator Nolan Bushnell, 66, left the business over thirty years ago, however the inspiration driving his new project stems from gaming with his five sons."

Atari's founder is working on a free to play, real time strategy/first person shooter game. Bushnell also indicated he is a big believer in cloud computing.
