The hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne!
Jayne Cobb: Human Pure Fighter & General Badass
Level 20 Chaotic Neutral Human Male
(20 Fighter)
This theme of this build is a fictional character named Jayne Cobb from the TV show Firefly and the movie Serenity. Even though this is a theme build, I want it to be functional and someone that adds value even at end game. In a game where there are no guns, how do you build Jayne Cobb? He is just way too badass to be a heavy repeater build, I won't even argue this point. He would be great with Improvised Weapons, if DDO had them. Hmmm....
The world according to Jayne:
When you have a problem, you solve it with your gun.
Bigger problems call for bigger guns.
If a gun just won't work, you can always beat the snot of the problem. Or stab it. Or beat the snot out of it AND stab it.
So my version of Jayne will shoot with a Great XBow until the target comes into melee range, and then pummel them to death with the punch/punch/kick of non-Monk unarmed combat. If the target is too badass for punching, he pulls out a couple of trenchknives (kukris or dagger) and start carving.
Build constraints:
Human
A competent hand-to-hand warrior, but none of that mincing kung fu bull
When a man fights, he uses both hands. Shields are for sissies.
Don't duck. Or dodge. Evasion is for sissies, and besides, that's what hitpoints are for.

Hitpoints are good, but I feel like I am missing something in the calculation, I expected the number to be higher.

AC is woeful. I didn't bother to calculate the buffed score because I don't see a way to get it high enough to matter.

Damage is light, as one would expect from a knife fighter, but not that light. And there will be a LOT of crits! I realize two khopeshes would be much better but I think this is actually pretty decent.
Starting
Base Skills Modified Skills
Skills (Level 1) (Level 16)
Intimidate 4 20
Jump 7 26
It may be worth investing in a +2 INT tome early to add another skill point per level and fill up Balance or something.
Feats
Level 1 Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Great Crossbow
Level 1 Power Attack
Level 1 Toughness
Level 2 Two Weapon Fighting
Level 3 Weapon Focus: Slashing Weapons
Level 4 Weapon Focus: Bludgeoning Weapons
Level 6 Improved Two Weapon Fighting
Level 6 Weapon Specialization: Slashing Weapons
Level 8 Weapon Specialization: Bludgeoning Weapons
Level 9 Improved Critical: Slashing Weapons
Level 10 Improved Critical: Bludgeoning Weapons
Level 12 Greater Two Weapon Fighting
Level 12 Quick Draw
Level 14 Greater Weapon Focus: Slashing Weapons
Level 15 Greater Weapon Specialization: Slashing Weapons
Level 16 Slicing Blow
Feat Explanations:
I am upping melee capability a lot for knife fighting (slashing kukris) and also punching (bludgeon) although not quite as much.
I do not invest any feats in the Great XBow other than the one Exotic Proficiency.
Quickdraw is not to speed up the XBow (tho it will) but is to make weapon swaps faster. This build will probably want a lot of specialized handwraps and kukris as well as needing to swap from XBow to melee and back in a hurry.
I may want to move Slicing Blow up in the stack. In Mod9, it makes every melee attack do Weakening.
The level 18 feat is probably another Toughness? I can't find anything in the release notes but if fighters get bonus feats at 18 and 20 then I will add a specialization in bludgeoning too.
Projected enhancements through level 16 are as follows:
Enhancements at 16th level
Fighter Attack Boost II
Fighter Haste Boost II
Fighter Critical Accuracy IV
Fighter Kukri Specialization II
Fighter Unarmed Specialization I
Human Adaptability Strength I
Human Adaptability Constitution II
Human Improved Recovery II
Human Versatility III
Racial Toughness II
Fighter Intimidate I
Fighter Strength III
Fighter Toughness IV
I expect to finish off enhancements through level 20 with Racial Toughness III, Human Versatility IV, and some combination of additional Fighter Haste Boost and Fighter Intimidation.
