I think you'll want to listen to this week's ask the devs even if you don't generally listen to DDOcast, as the Turbine crew discusses full character respecs, MyDDO.com, two-handed puncturing weapons, Kate Paiz taking a temporary leave of absence, half-orcs and more! It was a very newsworthy Ask the Devs, fer sure!
Also, I am very much still looking for someone to transcribe Ask the Devs, so if you are interested, please PM me here or email me at ddocast at gmail dot com.
Here's a LINK (http://www.cyberears.com/cybrss/6759.mp3) to the episode - just left-click to play, right click and 'save as' to download as an mp3.
This week's show features a BIG discussion with Turbine with Ask the Devs! This one is an absolute must-listen, with all sorts of significant news announced. Full character respecs, MyDDO and more! Big Bad Barry also discusses the Docent of Defiance in "From the Treasure Trove" and Samius and Xiloscient talk clerics in "Sound Concepts."

This was my first time listening to DDO cast (first time listening to any podcast, to be honest). VERY COOL!
How the heck do you get these developers to do this? I'm impressed!
Also, how do the logistics work? Is it done by phone? A special voice chat system? face-to-face?

DDOcast has been a regular souce of first release of information to us for some time now. The DDOcast team does great work and its nice to see the Turbine team recognize that and contribute :)

Concur.
Less about the information (tho that was obviously welcome news) but more about the candidness. For some topics, there was no beating around the bush. No meant no, assertive meant assertive.....I guess it just seemed there was a less apologetic tone and more along the lines of "this is what we're doing and here's why".
Mebbe it's just me,

Heh, yeah, there just wasn't time in this week's show to have a guest. I actually recorded bits and pieces of the non-ATD stuff over the past few days as I've been really busy with work and other stuff. Also, I was out of the house for much of Saturday, so that's why it didn't go up until very late.
Rogue Grenades?! (at 27:30ish). Someone on the Dev Team actually read my thread?! (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=186396)

The ATD is recorded over Skype, as is all of the other group conversations in DDOcast. Basically someone sets up a conference call over Skype.
alot of good info
My first time listening too, well except I tried to listen to the last one that had really bad audio, lol.
Can you remember which one had really bad audio? I've tried to make it sound as good as possible and can't think of any that really sounded bad.

My bad, I must have missed that. I confess to not paying too much attention to the fluff sections of the interview. Hmm...I hope all is well with her pregnancy, it seems really odd to be scheduled off more than 2 weeks early.

It was one, not to long ago. I dont remember the which one though. I would probaly believe it was about the time of the announcment of F2P or just before.

Huh, I thought all the recent episodes sounded fine. I guess the big question is: was the audio quality of this one better?

In respect to the myDDO stuff LOTRO has had it for about 6 months, and they have been betaing api type stuff which will allow you to pull your character info/guild rosters onto your own web site etc
see the link below for an idea of what they have done
http://my.lotro.com/bracket/datalotrocom-usage-guide/
This if enabled for DDO would tie in perfectly to things like the character planner or the crafting tools etc.

I'm betting it wasn't a DDOcast he's talking about.
I'd say it was the horrendous audio of Kate's ten-ton hammer interview, right before the announcement of DDO:EU.
Listening to that thing made the baby Jesus cry :D.

I bet you are right. Trust me, DDOcast would never (well, probably never*) release audio of that quality. I would have postponed the chat until it was fixed if I had done it. I let a certain amount of sound issues slide, but that made my ears bleed!
*It would have to be the most major piece of audio in DDOcast history for me to even consider it, and I'd apologize profusely before-hand...

Well half-orcs are pretty much a dead race in current DnD so I doubt they are a high priority item only being popular in old DnD due to the lack of a better choice.

In 3.5 Eberron Half Orcs have a role and a dragonmarked house--unless we are moving toward 4.0 (I hope we are not moving toward PnP WoW)--they would be entirely appropriate.

appropiate and popular in the current version being sold are not the same thing. I never said they were not appropiate choice.
I ment killing 2 birds with 1 stone is more likely. Give us something from 3.5 people liked that is still popular in current version.

Ah, gotcha. In that case, it seems that if a race that could get a strength bonus and not be hugely unbalancing is desired, the Eberron choices are Half Orc or Shifter (granted . . . only certain shifters could get a STR bonus). In my own experience (PnP), half orcs still get played . . . especially half orc druids in Eberron (gatewarden types), but I see how that complicates the issue. I'm not sure what the solution is here. I am only fairly certain that half-elves are not it:). (not that you suggested they were)

Been around pregnant women much? It doesn't take much of an excuse for a doc to say "you're on bed rest." Heck, my sister was in bed for the last month of her last pregnancy! (and that's nothing compared to some...)
Two weeks early = really big belly and low manuverability. :D

Best part was the question about large devil scales, they STILL think the drop rate is the same, this just makes me laugh. If this is true then how come I have pulled one in my last 42 shrouds. If what they say is true I am 6 scales behind schedule, they need to look into this more, or just increase the drop rate considering scales are the most commonly used ingredient. Most weapons made are mineral 2, lightning strike, and radiance, all of which take 4-6 scales, more than any other ingredient.
