I just listened to my first DDO cast and was surprised to hear the technical "hate reduction stacking" answer from the Devs. This was the first time I listened to a podcast and didn't realize the devs were so straightforward and candid in their repsponses.
The answer about hate reduction stacking is that yes, it stacks, but it's multiplicative, not additive. So if you've got Sublte Backstabber with 30% reduction, Treason with 20%, and Tharne's Wrath with 20%, you reduction is NOT 70%. It's 55.2%.
(70% * 80% * 80% = 44.8% hate or 55.2% reduction)
I'm sure lots knew this already but it's good to see it confirmed.

i think it's still worth building for .... the 100 pit hit only shows up for argo as a 55 pt hit .... as long as you got a decent barb around you should be good

Oh it's definitely a must-have. I was just posting the info because there was a thread on it earlier. It's nearly impossible to test since we can't see hate numbers so it's nice to know the mechanics.
The only testing I've done is by accidentally forgetting to turn on Subtle Backstabber. In P5 of the Shroud, when beating on the last Lieutenant I couldnt' figure out why he kept attacking me when there were 8 other guys hitting him. Ooops...
Also, note that two Treason's do NOT stack. The threat reduction from Treason affects all melee damage, not just damage from that one sword.

Yep yep. I won on my guess on multiplicative stacking, lost on my guess of "not a cross weapon effect".

I wonder if this extends to hate generation.

This answer is the one I hoped we'd get and assumed we wouldn't get.

But it also shows that in the future, whatever stacks on threat reduction will have continously less effect.

This multiplication is fundamental to how many things stack in DDO. You see it with alacrity boosts, potency items/enhancements, healing amp, hate etc.
If it says 10% increase then think multiply by 1.1 - if it says 10% decrease then think multiply by 0.9.
e.g. with both 10% and 20% healing amp - it makes 1.1 * 1.2 = 32%, not 30%.

Imo we don't really need any more threat reduction. With 2-3 ranks and tharne's set a rogue is set fine for pretty much anything.

I know, for my rogue has the threat reduction enhancements and the tharnes set. Always looking for more though as it is still an often occurance where I keep pulling agro away from alot of fighter and even barbarian builds builds.
