Ranged fighter DPS build?

looking for a Ranged DPS fighter build (Bows). No I AM serious.

Rgr1/Ftr18/Wiz1
Kensei III
Arcane Archer

High Str & Dex

Take all the ranged feats
But most important is Bow Str, Manyshot, and Improved Crit Ranged.
Add Improved precise shot.

And you could be almost as good an archer as a pure Rgr w/Improved Crit Ranged.
Plus the Rgr capstone will probaby make a better archer than the Ftr build.

But IMO the Ftr build is the best archer possible for lvls 1-19.

Im thinking Kensai III and capstone with WF ranged might be on par with the ranger + capstone?

Ah...I forgot that it's supposed to be a choosable feat in Mod 9.
But I don't know the prereqs. Not sure if they are posted to the compendium yet or not.

Well, originally they said the Rgr capstone is +25% to ranged speed....hard to top that.
But the current desription says nothing about +25%....only that it is legendary.
Makes me think it is going to be less than +25%....but I do not know.

Ftr capstone gives +10%.
I would like to try a pure Ftr build archer actually. But 20 lvls is a lot to devote to an experiement. lol.

I had an all Ftr archer up to lvl 14....but then I took a lvl of Rgr for bow Str. And took a second lvl of Rgr before I heard about Kensei.....very mad now. Too much invested in him to reroll. :(

But he was the best Archer I have seen in game so far.

And lvl 1-19 is lot of fun playtime IMO.


Maybe I'll roll up another someday.

I need to know about Bow Str as a trainable feat first though.

And would like confirmation of the Rgr capstone too.

Go with a bard splash over wizard. It gives you umd which rules on that build.

Take a level of ranger. The difference between 19 fighter and 18 fighter is nothing, but 1 ranger adds the bow strength feat, 6+ skill points, a ranger favored enemy, sprint boost and +2 reflex/+2 fort. Go with 1 bard 18 fighter 1 ranger.

Switch Bard 1 for Rogue 1. Same thing, get some trapsmithing skills if that's your thing, and get a bit of backstab.

If Bow STR is a trainable feat, go Rog 1/Ftr 18/1 Barb. Rage+Manyshot+Power Surge will probably be amazing.

If Bow STR isn't trainable, go Rog 1/Ftr 18/Rgr 1

You can not take the feat mental toughness unless you can cast spells which is why you need to take a level of bard, sorc, wiz, 4 levels of ranger, etc.

You're right, for some reason, I was thinking this was 18 levels of ranger. Dunno why I was thinking that.

By the way I rolled up and levelled up a 14 fighter 1 bard 1 ranger character. The character was pretty fun. I had all the key bow feats, the twf feats and improved crit pierce as well as a very high umd (close to no fail heal scrolls). The character could really do alot of different things which was great. I was gearing out the char, but the ranger capstone came out whcih meant I would always be behind a pure ranger in dps so alas I deleted her.

To those people who are arguing take a level of something else other then 1 ranger and 1 bard I disagree the case for both are pretty compelling. A level of ranger even when bow strength comes out as a feat is pretty awesome and a level of bard for the umd and the ability to qualify for arcane archer with mental toughness also pretty compelling.

Weapon Focus: Ranged
Point Blank Shot

One of the Following:
Weapon Specialization Ranged
Combat Expertise
Power Attack
