With all of the new things supposedly going in with Mod 9, one has to wonder about clothing.

Will clothing be implemented as a "skin" over your stats items (ie armor and all) so that we can have some differentiation among the populace of Stormreach.

I do not see how it could be an issue as it could be an item sold in the Turbine Store ( and rare outfits given for events) and all that would need to be done is adding one simple equipment slot.

Note I am not asking for stats on these clothes or anything, just simply something to change the look of what the characters are wearing.

Personally I would love my clerics to be able to "wear" a holy robe or something especially if they had like a swirling silver flame or something.

My bard could look like a little drummer, and my barbarian could have a lionskin outfit like from Coming to America :D

There definitely needs to be a shirt for our characters saying, "I exploited my way through the Abbot and all I got was this lousy chain shirt."

Can I have a blue shirt to send to Rowanheal that says "BoyGamerz Rule"????

On the back it could say no pink allowed. ;)

(I am just kidding RowanHeal, please dont hurt me again.)

There are a couple of problems with this.

1. Nobody congregates anywhere. So, it not like you're going to me able to "show off" your clothes in a "social setting." Are your adventurers going to look silly wearing formal wear to an adventure? Yes.

2. Artists have to sit down and design these clothes for you. They then have to be playtested, sent through QA, etc. Since DDO does not have the infinite resources, most people would rather DDO spend their time making new dungeons, new equipment sets, and finally allowing charms to be dismissed.

Ever heard of roleplaying??

Lots of people congregate lots of places!

I think clothing/appearance/armor customization options in DDO:EU are an absolute must -- not a luxury!

At the very least, I'd like the option to overlay a sprite onto useful armor:

I'm wearing that really dumb looking +5 Mithril Chain.

But now it looks like that cool +1 Mithril Chain of Worthless Suffixes that I held on to...

I guess the rolyplayers are well hidden. I have yet to encounter one in game.

Instead of adding worthless cloths. How about give us the ability to customize the look of the equitment we are wearing. Maybe make this a crafting skill. And allow us to dye are armor.
