You know I am very pro noob. I like to help the new members of stormreach find there way. It is fun to listen to someone get excited when they pull a "Sword of Pain" or a cool +2 Full Plate, but last night I met the worst noob. I will not name names but this person really needs to shut up in groups about how uber he is when he just started playing. So we are in Ringleader on Elite. We are clearing everything and getting all traps, the normal way. This guy runs off and opens every door. The rest of the group is together getting the spiders and we here "HELP I OPENED THE WRONG DOOR." We all laughed at him, but saved him. Then we are at the last Oger, we all know he is a pain on elite for a lvl 3 group. We know to pull him close enough the the shrine to rez when he kills you. This guy gathers stones and runs for the chest :O. All but our bow user falls. Now this guys was a ranger as well so he had Diehard. Even though the bowman was alive and I had made to shrine, he is assuring people he will save them when he gets back up :P. It was too noobish for the party and we dropped him. Lesson to new players; Listen to the party, know you are a gimp, don't ask for everything pulled from chest, and stay with the group.
Also we had a member that claimed to have 3 lvl 16's. Every quest we did he would drop. He did not drink a single pot, no cleric for that lvl. We basicly 5 man'ed every thing. I guess what I am saying is old players to this game should know to carry pots with you.

Sorry, killing the spiders is noobsauce 101.

Two minute farming runs is where Ringleader is at. You should be showing the newbies how to do that.

Yeah, I'm not serious mate. Play the game how you like - there is absolutely nothing wrong with knocking over the whole dungeon.

Just a gentle ribbing since you're laying into the noobs. :)

Well this is not about noobs really. I have dropped 10k plat on a new player in potions, wands, gear, ect. I love new players. It is like experiencing the game all over again. It is about new players who think they now everything and are uber straight out of the gate. This guys just caused problems. The rest of this group, as well as the people that replaced him were great players. You could really tell they knew what they were doing and we had a great time. I was getting tells from the rest of the group to boot him long before we did. I was giving him every chance to get the xp.

Did you send him a tell and explain why how he was talking was not going to help him succeed in groups or DDO as a whole?

Because that advice would have been more valuable than giving him 100k plat.

Of course we did. This was not my first time helping new players. I hate throwing the term noob around so I do say new players.

You're now an enabler. I hope you can sleep at night with the horrible things you've done!

I tossed and turned all night. What I wanted to do was the following.

1. let him die
2. pick up his stone
3. keep him as far away from shrines and chest as I could :P.

At least this way he would still get the xp and favor for the quest!!!

Well at least your heart's in the right place. Now if only you could let it override your brain we'd be getting somewhere. :)

i disagree, you need to get him as close to the chest as possible, but away from shrine
this way he can see you guys looting that chest but can't do anything about it

Carry his stone through the quest, showing him how it's done.

It's the best way for noobs to learn.

Course you can keep him away from the shrine by telling him soul stones are used in the new crafting ritual... ask him if he prefer his new race to be ring or boot.

Infi you should not be posting items from the store that can not be named in the update that noone can talk about.

Just toss him a /hug and move on...unless you really want to be a KKD, Knight of Khyber Drama, then you send him /tells that in no uncertain terms describe his uselessness both in-game and even by himself with a full assortment of "marital aids" and videos at his command. Then when he responds you copy it and post it on the forums under the title "Look what this N00B B!tc# has the audacity to say to me!" But do it on a Friday so we can enjoy it all weekend long before TnT come and take it down, give you points and send you to the corner like all the other naughty KKDs.

When I logged on this afternoon there was an LFM up from some lowbie that said, "Please join only if you have plat. I am new and need money." Weird that there was no one else in his group!

No worries Tro.

Keep this in mind next time you run with an annoying noob.
It always works real good.

If annoying person dies out of range of shrine, tell them, "Sorry bud, my inventory is full."
Then zerg off to the next chest and mention something you just looted as being nice, even if it is only a potion or masterworks throwing hammers.

Not only will they get mad but they will usually leave the party real soon too.

For those types, I would join immediately and talk about how one of my alts has millions of plat then when you get to meet them in game put up the trade window with 20k plat and say, "Oops, got to afk, brb."

Just leave the plat in the trade window for about 10 mins.
If they are still waiting after 10 mins, just DC.

lol
