I'm looking to play a build modeled after my favorite Fantasy character Elric of Melnibone. I think he would be a Fighter/Magic-User of some time. Any build post would be appreciated. I realize that this may not be an uber build but I think fun to play none the less. Thanks

WF, sorc/paldin or barbarian/bard.

Hmmm, no chance a WF. I'd think elf or drow. Chaotic Neutral. Dex based with max Cha. Low STR/CON. I'd say Sorc with a splash of ranger. Bodyfeeder weapons of course

CN, Elf, Ftr2/Sorc18
Needs to be at least Sorc 18 for the kick-@$$ monsters he can summon. Ftr would be a better choice than Ranger to splash because not once, to the best of my recollection, did Elric ever track anything, fight with two weapons, use a bow, or have a Favored Enemy.
+5 Bodyfeeder Adamantine Bastard Sword of Enfeebling. Puncturing (for the Con drain) would be a better fit thematically but not possible on a slashing weapon in DDO. :(

I'd have to go with a melee focused sorc for that one. Greatsword user, shouldnt be that bad with the fix to swing speed. Sadly the best race for the playstyle looks nothing like Elric. Warforge would be a very viable build, where as elf or drow, you'd end wishing you could repair useful instead of UMD'ing heal scrolls.
A battlecleric or FvS could also fit the bill, as divine casters get some nastey necro and summon spells as well. Bastard swords could work in place of a greatsword, even if khopesh is better. Human would give the best combination here, and you 'd get to pick a better pigment than drow, but would miss out on the regal features of an elf. I'd would definetly splash 1 fighter, 1 barb, or 2 rogue tho on either the arcane or divine caster

The alignment restrictions make playing an Elric build a bit problematic.
For myself, I'd probably go Drow Sorc/Paladin/Rogue:

12 sorc is your goal for a multiclass with an arcane caster. You can take every fire enhancment and use a fire spell called scorching ray, which is maxed at sorc11 and not based on caster level. It has no save, and no SR check. When they add caster prestige classes, one for sorcerer will be for enhancing fire, and they come at lv's 6/12/18.
Charisma is also only used for spell points and save DC's. You don't need to min/max it if you just want damage and no-save spells, which IMHO is wise for a split class into arcane territory. Though many builds on the subject will assume you do and list very high charisma scores. Just remember that including items and enhancements you need a total score up to a minimum of 10+spell level to cast the spell, so 19charisma for lv9 spells, though I doubt you'll have those on a split class.
