the ddo forums have been an enjoyable place for most of us. add on to the fact that one can get forum titles like "Hall of Famer", "Motivator", "Cube's Left", etc, the atmosphere has certainly gotten livelier
while many of these titled players have earned theirs through a posting which made an impact, there are also the players that work to improve the experience of players quietly and diligently
talish is a long time player on khyber. ever since day 1 that i got to know her, she has been helping new players all over the server. in addition to that, you can see her giving advice to the newbies in the forums as well. while she did not create a BIG BANG like some of us did, her work has nonetheless impacted on alot of players
one can go to khyber and see the level of support she gets from experienced players to help out with the newbies. one can also see how much a new player would have benefitted and then return the favor by contributing to her cause
the second player i would like to highlight is sigtrent. again sigtrent like talish have contributed immensely to the community. his "Request a Build" thread is perhaps the most popular build thread in the forums. i have yet to play with him but his insight had definately helped alot of people
the amount of knowledge one needs to be able to design not just workable but great builds is tremendous. the build request thread has helped alot of people. even when i create builds for new players, i would reference to it to see what works and what not.
so i'd like to propose that forum titles be given to very deserving players who have done a great deal for the community. allow talish to be recognised as a newbie helper so that new players can know that they are hearing from a trusted souce. credit sigtrent as a master builder so that anyone will know when a build is his, it is great build

bah i never get any love :(
You just need to find your niche, and monopolize it ;)
Oh, and /sign - Mythe and Sigtrent are much appreciated. Titles would help express that :)

Maybe there could be a nomination of some kind by a player that can get some developer attention for a unique name?
Talish definitely has earned one, in my opinion.
Something to consider, maybe.

i prefer the mods just picking who they see fit.
i am definately against public lobbying for people getting titles ( even if the nominee's are well deserving) as it kind of cheapens the titles given to others. imo send the mods a pm of those u feel are deserving. if the dev's start handing out titles that way then all we will see is threads lobbying for titles for everyone
when i (regretably) voted for turbine as best developer in every round of the escapist march madness I noticed that there were many ways for forum posters to get titles/rankings ect from quantity of posts to variety of forum participation to good behavior with the ability of the person to pick which titles they wanted displayed for others to see. this is something that would be more appealing to me.
of course i will settle for the ability to choose which character to have in my sig (not all of mine are there), and maybe 400 more choices for avatars since we cant make our own.

i do not disagree with you which is why the two examples i chosen are players of stirling qualities who have shown the willingness to help others. i think you can see for yourself that these 2 individuals are really deserving of a title

I do agree mostly, however some people received titles for the most ridiculous reasons, leaving the people mentioned above slighted. Whoever is/has been in charge of forum titles has missed true gems of the population. Can't fail to mention those that have turned their behavior around so dramatically, that their title is laughable.
Perhaps a simple nominate sticky thread where people could simply type a name.....bah I say drop the titles completly.

Seroiusly who are these people? Why should they get a tittle? What does it matter if they have a title or not?

Aranticus you are a sweetheart. Your post made this old lady smile and that is more than enough for me. :) :)
It wouldn't be right that I should receive a title when there are so many here that do the same thing as I do. Willphase, Arianrhod, Lorichie, yourself and far too many others to list here, all spend time in the newbie forums answering questions and helping out when they can. Also many of those same players help in their home servers help channels etc. All of us together are what make new players feel welcome. Although we may not know each other personally we are all part of a team that helps those who need it.
I do have a title. I am listed as a Founder and that is something I'm very proud to wear under my forum name. Besides my guild is called The Unsung Heroes. How can I be a part of that guild if I am not myself unsung??? ;)
Again thanks for the thought. I guess everyone needs to feel appreciated once in a while and you have just accomplished that for me. I should be good for another year or so now :D

how were they slighted? every title has been earned except for the brown noser cube titles of which i would be embarassed to have and would actually ask for it to be removed if one like that were ever bestowed on me. seriously who wants to brown nose so much that they get public acknowledgement for it? (refering to cube syncophants not the people mentioned in this thread). honestly its better to receive a title without asking for one because whomever decides to give them out will be doing so out of free will and not because enough people badgered them to give in.
