Fighters (kensai) will be getting a nice DPS boost for mod 9. Because a part of the dps is based on changes to the crit range and damage of a fighter, the increase will be relative to the crit power of the weapon that you are using. Also, ever increasing damage modifiers like strength continue to place more emphasis on weapons with high crit power (especially khopesh). Here is a chart which compares fighter mod 8 vs fighter mod 9 damage for various races and weapon types (I've also included numbers vs. 50% fort. All races start at 18 str except the Halfling which starts at 14. I haven't included the haste boost enhancement in any these numbers). 50% fort reduces both crit , and sneak attack damage.

The biggest increases in dps are definately for khopesh users. The other weapons increase, but not by as much. The advantage of racial adjustments for rapier and dwarven axe are a bit diminished due to the relative increase of other factors. (for example, in mod 8 a human with khopeshes did similar damage to dwarf with dwarven axes. in mod 9 the human will to quite a bit more damage with the khopesh).

For clairification as to how I arrived at the DPS numbers, here are the numbers for how I did the WF. If I included all the calculations, the post would become a bit too lengthy to be readible. All numbers include the same factors (Mineral II weapons, bloodstone, madstone, tharnes, etc etc.).

Previously, I used bastard swords on my human fighter largely just to be different. I'll be switching over to khopesh for mod 9, assuming no cool named bastard swords are included in the new raid loot. Other non-khopesh users may also want to evaluate their options (if they care about maximizing dps).

Actually the biggest increase from mod 8 to mod 9 will be for the heavy pick. The khopesh vs. the dwarven war axe is about the same % differential as it is now just the base damage goes up which gives the khopesh more absolute damage. The rapier and other x2 weapons are the weapons most hurt by the way kensai will work in DDO.

To use a khopesh without a -4 penalty requires an extra feat. The easiest remedy for this dps discrepancy is to add more quality feats some of which add to dps that a Khopesh user would be giving up.

yeah, your right.. the heavy pick on my chart increases 31.4%. I missed that because the overall dps is so much lower. Here are the percentage changes for the above chart (vs 0% fort).

% increase
26.2% … warforged (khopesh)
26.7% … human (khopesh)
24.4% … halfling (khopesh)
22.8% … elf / drow (rapier)
26.2% … dwarf (dwarven axe)
31.4% … human (heavy pick)
22.0% … human (bastard sword)
22.5% … human (longsword)

I agree somewhat with the feat thing. My human WF fighter uses Heavy picks to save a feat, whereas my human can easily fit in an exotic weapon. I do hope that they put in more quality feats in mod 9.

Also, I should point out that in my example above WF khopesh user would have -5 to hit relative to the Dwarf dwarven axe weilder (or the elf). Things like that make a difference in some scenarios.

**edit Here are the mod 9 numbers (using kensai WF) for all one handed weapons (including all weapon effects, which continues to give high crit power weapons an advantage even as fortification increases):
