Need Advice, to sell or not to sell.

I have been trying now for about two months to get what i need to make 2 Mineral II koepeshs. I have everything to bring them to tier II (minus 1 small shard) but I am lacking several Scales,and a few shrapnels and arrow heads (all larges)
Even if I decide to go with just one Min II that leaves me looking for 4 scales 3 shraps and 2 arrowheads (+ the small Shard thats no biggie.)

The issue, I really only have 2 mains (a sorc and pali) to shroud with. I am trying to bring up a fighter (currently lvl 4) and have several things in the bank for him when he levels. At the current rate of scale drops it will take me forever to accumulate the larges i lack for even just 1 tier 3, unless I buy them.

Question: which is wiser, to sell off all my saved loot and buy as many larges as i can and just let my fighter come up without insta-twink everytime he levels? Or, just continue hoarding ingredients and stay a gimp-capped pali for another 9 months?

Things I have waiting for my fighter:

Bloodstone
several +1 tomes (can use now just havent eaten them yet)
+2 wisdom tome (trade fodder for str or con +2 tome)
+5 MFP
Chaos gaurdes
RGM (Really Really dont want to give up)
ring of feathers
variable lvl Dwarven axe twinkage
and probably 500k Plat
+6 stat items
vorpals, banishers,smiters,disruptors (mostly koepeshes)
SEVERAL extra Small/Medium ingredients (i mean like 10 to 15 extra each in most cases)


What should I do? I would really hate to give up all of that especially since some of it is being used by my pali atm.

To do both Min II's to tier 3 i think i need 9 scales 4 arrowheads and a few shrapnels (all large)

any ideas.

I was thinking about pimping out my female sorc for 1k plat per "favor" too she will be the naked drow in the rusty nail if interested..... lol

I have no intention of stopping the grind just not really sure which would be easier lvl up my fighter with his toys for a 3rd shrouder or just buy the **** things and have a legit pali sooner...

but it would not hurt my feelings to keep my stuff and hold out a bit. My pali is pretty set with good tools anyway, I could be fine for a while with out the GS.

Make sure you have a 32 pt build, make sure that it is an uber design then put all resources toward it.

If your existing toons are 32 pt builds or Drow then just ensure they are uber in design. How to do that? Easy, post your build here. If they suck then don't invest any resources toward it.

If your existing toons are not 32 pt builds then focus all attention on gaining 1750 favor so that you can start a new 32 pt build toon. Before creating the new toon though, pick a class then find an uber design. How to do that? Either; a) check out the DDO Class Forums, or b) find someone uber to give you some insight on a great build for the class you want to play.

I could probably be talked into helping you think through your choices. Also, I have posted the basics of my toons in the DDO Wiki. Just go to the Compendium and look for Legion toons. If you see anything you like, I can give you more specifics.

If you want something relatively non gear intensive, a couple choices might be a Frenzied Berzeker Barbarian with a Min II Greataxe or a Warforged caster which wouldn't necessarily require double upgraded Shroud items.

Plenty of other choices too, but do your homework before looking me up.

5) Now that you have all stats and gear identified, roll your character and trade everything it takes to get the gear you need. Most likely though, you'll need to focus on pharming certain raids and Reaver's Refuge.
Important Note: Do NOT trade your gear without first ensuring that are NOT getting ripped off. How to do this? Simple; a) post trade consideration here for input, b) ask an experienced friend/guildmate, c) send me a tell, PM or in game mail.

IMO, it's best to uber out one toon (ala Eriik) than to join groups with gimp builds. The former will get you invited back to the best groups. The latter will get you pileon status that will be difficult to recover from once that tag is firmly entrenched. Focusing on one uber build will give you time to better learn the game and to hear more about the newest uber build. You always have the gimps as fillers.

Yeah my two mains are Drow. Kindread is my Pali and Fierra is my Sorc. I am still grinding out 1750 favor. Kindread is closest @ about 1350 currently. My Fighter is obviously a 28 pt build Dwarven TWF. Thre reason I have not eaten my tomes is b/c I was hoping to save them for a 32 pt High DPS build when I am able, but selling them may be a better option.

As for my question, I think I am currently leaning toward purchasing as many scales as I can, maybe selling my tomes, keeping the gear for a while, and just grinding away for a while.

Take your time and keep your loot. You will get there in time and the shroud weapons dont make a character, its nice though.

My suggestion is to find a good guild of you have one, and work something out. Other than that, try and level another toon and shroud him as well.

Last option is to save, save, save your money.

Ren has always been helpfull. lets see there was the time he informed me I was a pile-on, (nice, as I did not know that @ the time) and there was the time he said I had not one funny bone in my body and that all my posts suck. I do belive he even made mention of my 387 periods that i use in my sentences as being akin to waterboarding...... so yeah I think we are talking about the same dude....

Here is all i can remember about my sorc.... and my pali rocks dude!!!! no soup for You!!!!

My sorc blows!!! lvl 16 drow sorc. 35 cha after +2 tome. No Heighten yet, but has quicken, maximize, extend.

has pretty much all the gear needed minus GS items. 2300 sp no archmagi yet. has hound ring. 200 hp. Fire Ice spec's w/ spell pen enhancements. Sup Pot 6 sceptor + +3 spell pen item. AC is 28 I use +3 fearsome chainshirt spell failure does not come in handy at all, ever.. There is always the ambient background noise in group that sounds a little like. "Haste please!, **** this sorc sucks!, Wheres my List!, GH Please!, Gotta Blur?, can you throw a jump on me. **** pileons!, if you would just throw an F'ing fire wall we could move on **** your an idiot!" I can't seem to shake that.

My advice: keep shrouding. Make some cash. Sell/trade your +2 tomes (you'll get them back at some point). Buy scales if you can't loot enough by yourself (you should be able to buy them at 250-300k pp, try in the market forums).

Here is all i can remember about my sorc.... and my pali rocks dude!!!! no soup for You!!!!

Since you didn't put all your stats I'll give you some advice right now. Your sorc is salvageable. Now this list isn't absolute but feel free to pick and choose with what others will put as well.

1. Redo your enhancements. Since you have 35 Cha, I'm guessing you put points in the Sorc Cha enhancements. Drop it down to 34 since 35 is an odd number and gives you nothing.

2. Switch to robes. Unless that fearsome is a mithril chain shirt and you took the arcane fluidity, avoid spell failure. You always seem to fail when you need to cast the most.

3. If you've been maxing out your Concentration skill, drop quicken and take Heighten if you've been maxing your spell pen, otherwise take Empower to beef up your damage spells.

4. If you have 2300sp and have Mental Toughness or Imp Mental Toughness drop those for Heighten or Empower. As a sorc you'll never have a problem with your sp pool as long as you can show a bit of restraint.

5. Your 200hp is okay, but you're still at risk of getting 1-shotted. Do you have a Greater False Life Item or the Minos Legens Helm? Also if you can fit it in...take Rage as a spell.

6. If you can run Stealer of Souls to get the Dragontouched Armor. Getting +5 saves is easy (loot Monastary and Kobold over and over again).

7. For your damage spells make sure you have a lore item to go with your potency item. Those crit Firewalls can be pretty. The spell pen is situational...and more useful for stuff like the Shroud.

8. As for GS items, get one to at least Tier 2 and worry about your large ingredients later. Also Shroud Shroud Shroud and once you get to 20 runs take a cleanser first. Then on your 21st run you can quickly make a Tier 2 hp item or something. Remember weapons don't need to be cleansed so you could easily make the +1 exceptional Cha weapon and still wear it with your sp item.

Yeah I hear that ALLLLL the time. My GL reccomended the Quicken B/C he said it is auto success on all concentration based saves when it is on. He swears by it and has it on all his casters. I will admit.... it is fun being able to throw out like 20 bizzilon spells in like 5 seconds but I find that I RARELY use it. I am Planning to exchange it out with Heighten at some point.

I would recommend not selling. If you only have enough for the first 2 tiers then put them on the weapons. Also remember that you can combine the ingredients and hold the combined parts as a single item in the ingredient bag. I did both when I was waiting for a couple of larges.

I am sortof in the same boat you are bart. I have 3 shrouders without a massive number of completions (Runix 40, Laz 37, and Dred 17) I do have 1750 unlocked and suggest you make that a priority when you are on shroud timer. Dont level up another 28pt character its not worth it. With only the less than 100 completions I have I have crafted 3 air III items (cheap on scales) a Min II dw axe a Min II necklace and have stuff together for Dred's Min II picks. The key is become an AH troll and find deals on anything whenever you can. I might be shunned for this but I also make loot from selling my small and medium ingredients on the AH when they start to pile up. To deal with the shortage of scales I bought 5 in two transactions for 225k each. And more than anything, echoeing what others have said, DO NOT make mineral II weapons for inferior builds. Think of all the time and plat spent getting it together and realize that mineral II weapons arent gonna save a build that sucks in the long run. Lazy pit fiend beaters are great.

Yeah, I dont think my drow Pali is all that gimped. I enjoy playing him and he has no problem in any of the raids. I do have some decent non-GS weaps though. I never thought about saving my ingredients for a 32 point toon, I will have to give that some thought......... thx for your input!

2) I concur that your Sorc is potentially salvagable. I will first need to know what your Constitution score is (noting tomes and items), and your UMD and Concentration skill scores (base without item).

Assuming you past that final filter, here's your wish list.

1) Shroud Charisma stick for your offhand. Cheapest is probably triple air which will give you +9 CHA, haste clickies and air guard with minimal use of lg scales.

2) Shroud Mana/CHA Skills Goggles (also triple air)

3) Shroud HP, +5 CON Skills, +6 WIS Belt, Necklace or Boots.

4) Shroud Belt, Necklace or Boots (Gr Fire Resist, Greater Ice Lore, Superior Fire Lore)
Note: that's a lot of Shroud runs to get that many essenses of cleansing. So, until you get to this point, I would recommend the Blue Dragon Scale Robe for the greater arcane lore. You can also get by with the ghetto version that uses the dragon relics to craft in the gianthold and gives arcane lore.

5) Dragon Touch Armor (e.g. +5 Resistance, +6 Con, Glacial Assault)

6) Skiver for non fire/ice greater arcane lore (Disintegrate, Magic Missile, etc.)

7) Bracers of the Glacier, Gloves of the Glacier, Seven Fingered Gloves, Ring of Thelis, Stormreaver Napkin, Head of Good Fortune

8) Minos Legens, Disease Immunity Ring of Greater False Life

Wow..... what's up with the pali hate. Talking about my pali is worse than talking about my momma..... However, I can see that it would be benificial for me to bring up a higher evolution of toons once I hit 1750. But until then my pali/sorc will have to suffice. Besides, my uber play style and mad wicked skillz make up for any gimpness they may have...... :D

On the other points. I will be crafting a GS cloak tonight for an A$$h@t I know ( ;) ), once I am done doing that I will scan my sorc's stats and post them. I have not played her in a while. I do have Minos legens, and ring of Thelis

I can tell you right now she is UMD suckage!!! I totally did not realize the uberness of UMD until like 11th lvl so I put everything into like Concentration or Bluff. everything since has been UMD.


My original Valkyrie was a Drow sorc that was completely geared out including +3 CHA Tome, Shroud items and all the raid gear on my wish list. I rerolled her. Why?

I maxed CHA, but not CON, so my HPs were not maxed out. Not bad, 250 or so, but not uber. I made a mistake and put points in some other useless dump stat. I didn't go Bluff like you did and went Diplomacy which is a much better option as it is an aoe. Don't underestimate Balance though.

Also, I did not max out UMD. Again 32, so not bad, but not uber. You need to get to 39 so you can scroll heal yourself without fail.

Those two things alone were enough for me to trash a completely geared out toon and make Marauder, who is uber.

My final recommendation is to continue pharming Shroud and hoard your ingredients. Focus on getting your Sorc to 1750 favor then make an uber build and dump all your time and resources into equipping.

I can help you open elite favor. Also, once you decide the class you want to make, I can help plan your build.

And to Clay, yes this is me. I have not been abducted by aliens and replaced by a soft hearted drone. I still think bartcom2000 is a pileon with no funny bone and his posts are suckage. SEVERAL extra Small/Medium ingredients (i mean like 10 to 15 extra each in most cases)


What should I do? I would really hate to give up all of that especially since some of it is being used by my pali atm.

To do both Min II's to tier 3 i think i need 9 scales 4 arrowheads and a few shrapnels (all large)

any ideas.

I was thinking about pimping out my female sorc for 1k plat per "favor" too she will be the naked drow in the rusty nail if interested..... lol

Swap Imp Mental toughness for Empower
Swap Quicken for Heighten



Enhancements:

Arcane fluidity I
Improved Maximize I
Improved Quicken I
Racial Toughness I
Critical CHance (fire/cold) II
Critical Multiplier (F/C) III
Spell Damage Amplify (Acid/Ele) II
Spell Damage Amplify (F/C) IV
Improved Spell Pen III
Sorc Energy of Dragonblood IV
Charisma III


1. Get some robes and drop arcane fluidity. You don't need AC on a caster. You have displacement and stoneskin :)
2. Drop the Spell Damage for Acid/Elec. Max out your Fire/Cold crit chance and multiplier.
3. Lower Sorc Energy of Dragonblood to 2 instead of 4.
4. Drop Charisma 3 to Charisma 2
5. Max out your Racial toughness
6. Drop Improved quicken and take improved empower (once you take the feat)

This should leave you with some points to play around with as well.

Really....., thank you for your input. if you happen to have any of that type "junk" in your inventory like the Bloodstone, RGM,CG,500k pp, +5MFP feel free to off load it on me. my toon is Kindread. hell, that would free up some valuable inventory slots for you.:rolleyes:
