Was thinking of fighter13/ ranger6/ monk1
I always pplay casters but i want to make a fun melee. I just dont know an effetive way to build one. I am always wishy washy about multiclassing. So im looking for help. I think I want the monk wisdom AC bonus. I want tempest. And I want a strong DPS.
would paly be better than fighter. Do i need monk 2 for AC bonus. Should I go for tempest 3 instead of just one?
ugh point me in the right direction please!

take one lvl out of fighter and shove it in monk
this way you get one more monk feat and evasion while keeping your BaB

i was thinking stats
str 18
dex 12
con 15
int 10
wis 15
cha 8
does that sound about right. its been forever since i have done this.
And what class should i start with?

I've had a lot of fun with Nellas:

I've rerolled my various builds so many times that I'm tired of it, but I've been delighted with the synergy I've found, here.

The trick is to read the compendium so you understand each class and when they get their special abilities...
You really need to plan ahead when multi-classing.
For instance, you need to know that monks get their AC bonus at level 1, and that rangers get tempest at level 6 (and you need to know what feats are required to get tempest). You should also note that monks get evasion at level 2, and fighters get pretty much nothing at level 13... so maybe 12/6/2 is the way to go..
But maybe a 18/1/1 ranger/fighter/monk would better with Tempest III.
You have to look at the Prestige Enhancements a fighter gets in Mod 9, and make a decision:
Kensai II (from 12 levels of fighter) plus Tempest I (from 6 levels of ranger)
Fighter enhancements through level 12
Ranger enhancements through level 6
Bunch of extra fighter feats.
or
Tempest III (from 18 levels of ranger).
Ranger enhancements through level 18
Fighter enhancements at level 1
Bunch of Ranger feats
Extra favored enemies
Basically, you have to learn how to add up the pros and cons of both builds and decide which is more fun. You really have to understand all the classes and when and where they get their special abilities, and then decide where each class can be cut off effectively...
6 levels of ranger is a good cutoff because you get a lot for it
Tempest
TWF
ITWF
Manyshot
Bow Strength
Rapid Shot
2 Favored Enemies
Ram's Might spell
Jump spell
Now you need to decide if 12 levels of fighter is worth more than 12 more levels of ranger. Note that without the fighter levels, you will be a bit more feat starved, because Tempest requires 3 feats.
Multi-classing in this game is very fun... Lots of different builds out there, many different effective ways to build a character... The devs deserve kudos for (mostly) balancing the classes pretty well.
Good luck to you... a 12/6/2 fighter/ranger/monk would be a very decent character...

First off those numbers up there aren't possible for a human...
Rangers get the Two-weapon fighting feats for free... 6 levels of ranger gets you TWF and ITWF... If you went 11 levels of ranger you would get GTWF (Greater Two weapon fighting) for free... If you go 12/6/2 fighter/ranger/monk though, you won't get GTWF for free, and it has a prerequisite of 17 DEX...
So to do this build right, you really need at least a 16 DEX to start with (and count on buying or finding a +1 DEX tome later on). Plus for evasion to be effective, you need a decent Reflex save, and a good DEX score helps there...
I'd probably go with
STR 16
DEX 16
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 12
CHA 8

I have a ranger 9-pally3-monk2 that I really enjoy.
Pally gives a different set of options than the fighter and with wpn finesse and elven dragon marks this is a bit feat starved but there are nice bonues as well.
will end up rgr 12 (tempest II, max barkskin), pally 6 (hunter of the dead I - fits the original concept) and monk 2
