Now I have done studies on the martial arts (including those in which monks studied) and there have been 5 main paths: the tiger, the crane, the snake, the leopard, and the dragon.
Why is it that these aren't the paths to follow in DDO?
Because this is a fantasy world and not the real one so we have different paths we arent learning kung fu or karate or some other earthly art. and our matial world also had monkey style and many others.

Umm, as in studies you mean on one or two arts right? Besides China and Japan, most other Arts Martial have one style/type-not several.
Also, nowhere in this world will you find a martial artist that has spell resistance, disease immunity, poison immunity, and the other abilities monks get. This goes along great with what Uska said :)

Our gung fu is not strong enough to accept the way of the Dragon.
...and the Shaolin Ch'an paths are: Crane, Tiger, Snake, Northern Praying Mantis, and Dragon. (tiger _and_ leopard?)
