I know you have to be lawful for the monk splash. I am interested in finding out the advantages and disadvantages of going neutral or good. I had a friend, and some others tell me to go neutral, and I did. Now I figure out I can't use pure good weapons. I have not been able to reach friends for their reasoning, so was hoping for some answers here.

I'm building a dwarven tempest ranger/monk 1, possibly 2.

Thanks for looking.

Neutral lets you use a litany of the dead, good lets you use pure good. Pure good is not particularly relevant at high level due to Shroud weps, Litany is only relevant at high level if you can beat the Abbot. You also take less dmg from certain relatively uncommon and insignificant effects.

Good lets you use chaos guard bracers thats an extra 2 ac if you are going that way

Lawful Neutral, with UMD.
Lawful Good, without UMD.

Matters if you have UMD or not.

What does the clicky on the Litany of the Dead do? Turn the page spell? Do you need umd to use this item?

So, is my lawful neutral build, with no umd, gimped then? Any other losses other than pure good weapons? Don't plan on using chaos guards, so no problem there. Would like to have Icy Raiments, and hopefully chattering ring, along with +7 bracers. Unless there is a better route to more ac that I am unaware of, along the lines of this build.

Character is level 7, so I'd hate to start over but I could.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty new, have just gotten 1750 favor, and still have a lot to learn.

Thanks for the replies.

LN is the way to go, it doesnt matter if you have UMD or not, it will make lvling up a bit harder but once you hit the end game content you will be using shroud weps anyway...

The Lotd is great for melee toons if they are of nongood alighnment. It's +1 to all you stats (stacks with everything) and is +1 to skills, dmg rolls and saves. The clicky is a -50% spell cost on all spells for like 6 second or so.

Thank you Comfortably for the response. Pretty nice item to have there. Just thought I'd make sure on alignment before I got to end game and thought a;lskjdf;la!!! I can live without pg weapons, like you say, after shroud crafting not needed much anyway.

Thanks again, much clearer to me now.

What does the clicky on the Litany of the Dead do? Turn the page spell? Do you need umd to use this item? Clickie isn't what's important. It's that it's giving bonuses to your combat. Might consider googling its effects, since it has a crapload of 'em.

No.

Not really.

Icy Rams+8 AC Bracers+4 Insight on your Shroud weapon+CE is all the AC you'll ever need.

Character is level 7, so I'd hate to start over but I could.
He's good. No worry.
