I been away from this game for awhile. Last time I played.....Was Using an XP machine. Now I have 64 Bit Vista Ultimate. When i try to get the updates it gives me an error code othertimes it takes like 50 secs to try to connect. I can play other games just not this one. Is server down or do i have todo something with vista to make it work....I am not sure, but i know i want to play =)

I'm on my XP too, and I can't get in either. Maybe I should try logging in on my Vista, but I doubt I'll be successful. For some reason the forum hasn't been inundated with "Hey! I can't log in!" threads. This seems to be the only one, so I wonder if some folks can log in, others cannot. I haven't been able to log in for about an hour. I was able to earlier this morning, and logged out. I think that maybe the folks who logged in early and stayed in aren't affected.

I am unable to get past the 'Connect' portion of the logon screen. I've retried six times so far with no change in results. My son, on our secondary account, however, was able to log in and connect to Sarlona on the first attempt.
We are on the same Cable connection (he's actually about 4 feet away), connected to the same router on approximately the same length of Cat 6e, and my DSL reports (from the computer that can't connect to DDO) below is showing a solid connection

edit: The machine that's not working is Vista Ultimate x64, and the one that is working is XP sp3.

edit edit: 10th time is the charm .. was finally able to get a connection. I'd guess there's something wrong with the connection to the authentication servers.

At the time of this post, I too received a brief flash in the launcher, something like "Error connecting to remote update somthingy"-type message, then quickly flips to the "game update progress" launcher screen, where I'm getting the X next to "Connect." I allowed it to tick through 6 retries, and am now going to close the launcher, try one more time, then I guess I'll leave it alone for a while.

i would just like to point out, mostly to the mod 9 naysayers, that this is a prime example that Turbine is doing what they can to keep us happy...

there's a reason that Mod 9 hasn't hit yet, and i'm highly skeptical that it has anything to do with Turbines deciding to lose player base.

the level of excitement that the DDO staff have expressed on the forum WRT Mod 9, is indicative of a staff that WANTS to see their baby come to fruition.

i just hope that the people who do leave the game, do so for other reasons, and stop the verbal harrassment of turbine. they are doing their job, and i would be willing to bet are just as frustrated as the player base is, regarding the delays that are being forced upon them.

Still having problems on DDO and Lotro for that matter. I get as far as trying to connect to data center with "HTTPS//gls.ddo.com/GLS.Datacenteserver/service.asmx" is not available.

I then tried to tracert to it and it died somewhere on my service provider DNS server

Then tried to ping gls.ddo.com [206.15.13.87] and got no response. Then tried to ping by IP and got no response.

I am thinking we have a DNS issue here. Maybe you guys made a change and did not update the DNS records?


Did not try the same thing on LOTRO, but assuming the same. I was logged in all day until about 2:00 ish... got kicked from LOTRO and now nothing either game.

Oh yeah, I tried from my laptop, then my desktop.. no joy on either.

Cox here too. I have to assume they never update or were told to update the servers. Probably Turbine sent update records and Cox never did it. At least I hope that was the issue. ;)

DDO works now. Hopefully other Turbine games are back too.

I don't think its my ISP....It could be my windows vista 64 bit, but all i can say is i want to play and need help if anyone knows what the deal is.
