View Full Version : Server Moral's at an all time low

Let me first start by saying this is not a thread to start complaining about Mod 9's release date! This is a discussion thread about server moral and how we as players can boost moral. This thread is open to all servers and all players. We started playing this game without wondering if Mod 9 was going to be on time so when are the players going to realize that they don't need mod 9 to continue playing. For the past year there have been MILLIONS of shroud groups going and ppl have even made more than one greensteel. If you don't have more than 20 VOD completions your considered a newb, if you can't solo WW on a lvl 2 your considered a casual player... BLAH BLAH BLAH. Has everyone forgotten how many friends they have made? Why have all the regular players just ditch us? So they are going to "nerf" some things. If your mad about that fact why not take the challenge that has been issued and adjust your characters. You started playing this game for a reason and I AM PRETTY SURE IT WASN'T FOR THAT WOUNDING OF PUNCTURING RAPIER YOUR SO FOND OF! Why can't people remember why they started this game in the first place. MAKE A NEW TOON and try to cap within a week. God forbid you might have to delete one of your already capped toons to do it but since your "whole build is being nerfed" why not give it a shot. The servers and players have spent a lot of time helping you lvl your toons, get you your equipment, complete your GS lightning 2 rapiers and now that times are tough you abandon us? Then again I don't know why I started this thread in the first place as I'm not sure I want to have that many "fair weather friends". If all the players in this game were 6 years old I would understand this but COME ON. Can the adults start acting like adults and maybe use the time to motivate other people. Try doing something for someone else for a change.
Lets have some suggestions as to how YOU use the extra time we have been given.

I'd love to see those WOPs disappear. And limit the Para's, Vorpal's and disrupters
so that they aren't common items.
I remember when it was like WOW you have a Paralyzer! Now it's you mean you
don't have +3 Paralyzer of Pure Good...
So cannot just point to WOPs that have (in my opinion) cheapened the game.
And no I'm not deleting my TOONS again. Been there done that way back in 2007.
Deleted them all...

I, for one, have become a big brother to a noob. I guide him through Stormreach Monday to Thursday evenings and answer his questions about the game. We quest together and I goad him into jumping off cliffs. Certain quests I tell him that "We have to split up to do this part." I then send him and the caster down the hallway to the right and inform him they must open the door. When the end boss comes out and uber-pwns them, I am sitting in the shrine chuckling.
Just things like that you know? It passes the time as I wait for mod 9. I highly recommend it.

I'm still working on my characters... When they have everything they need, I'll either try perma-death on another server or more likely.. take a break from this game...
There are a LOT more games out there you know... I wouldn't suggest trying a different MMO (pretty hard to play multiple MMOs at the same time I think), but there are dozens of super-high quality computer games out there...

I am addicted to DDO and Flight Simulator. Especially when I get all frustrated with everything going on with this game a nice leisurely cruise in a plane with some tunes does a world of good. And you have seen me, I get my panties in a bunch quite often around here.

I am disgusted, annoyed, and agrivated but you know full well that I still log in. I log in for one consistent reason over all others, the people. How do I pass the time between the mods? I hang out with friends running the same quest over and over. Not because I am really aiming for something, but it keeps me busy doing something made easy through familiarity. So much so that I don't notice the quest and can concentrate on talking to friends. That is really what keeps me logging in.

I think of DDO like a bar, a place to hang out with friends, so I understand your feelings, Kalanth. The only problem is when those friends leave or don't logon much due to the lack of something exciting going on, then I am there less, and it starts a viscious cycle that I am trying to break.
Many of my guild members have no free slots to make a lowbie and try something new, and have no low level chars to help new folks with. Turbine has been generous so far in giving us 10 character slots, but in the exceptional circumstances of this module delay, I feel it would be prudent to give a few more slots out so everyone can keep busy for a few weeks trying out new builds, and helping new people out.
I have decided to sell all the stock on a bank character so that it can adventure again, so I'd have a lowbie available. But not everyone can just respec a char to obtain a lowbie, and moving one over from another server is not only costly, but seems to take weeks. So, I think even one more slot would be a bit of a help for people who have all 10 slots full of capped chars.

I continue to find new things to do in here. I take a look at the Static loot lists often to find things I dont have that would improve my characters. I semi-powerleveled a couple of them and they have none or little of the rewards that would really help. If you havent capped out your favor in all the quests. Work on it. If you have a 28 point build try reworking it in the Character Planner as a 32 and see if that improves it much. If so reroll! Double check all your builds against the new updates. If they are going to hampered or limited in progress by the new updates then consider reworking them to make them more usable. Get in the RAIDS and Shrouds and just run them to help your friends get the GS materials they need! instead of them running 25 runs to get things maybe it will only take half that. This is particular to basic GS ingredients as you only get 1 per run anyway. Ive been running the Necro quests to get all my guys raid ready. sigil pieces are random, and there are always shield and tome pages too. I recently discovered that my ranger would benefit more from the Wis helm from the dragon Raid than the 1 he has. I've been here since Beta. Yeah I should pay more attention but it gives me something to do. It really depends on YOU. is your cup half full or half empty?

I agree that morals are at an all-time low. Just yesterday I was approached by a squad of swarven haste addicts demanding "just one hit".
Then there is the story of poor Nat... we all know what happened to him.
Yes, just like the Romans of yore, we are rapidly declining in our moral fortitude.

Unlike the incident involving Dan Quayle back in '92, this is a case where it is, in fact, CORRECT to put an "e" at the end of your word.
OP is referring to "morale," although "morals" may also be at an all-time low ;)

Morale is great on Argonessen in the group of friends I have. We're focused on preparing for MOD 9 with experimental builds, playing together, raiding even though we never get the items we are after, and just having fun.
In the other guild, we're focused on welcoming and educating new players. We throw items and weapons at them from time to time, and the occasional mithral fullplate or whatever.
Sure, it's only about 70 people, but we're sticking around.
The vets that play solely to power up and level up etc so they can show up the people who don't have that gear yet are getting frustrated and bored, but that's mainly because they refuse to enjoy mentoring and running something just because. They are usually the type that chats before a quest then is silent on the run except when tactics come into play. They don't joke around and half ass things and maybe partywipe because they are laughing at a situational joke that was told. Half the fun is not taking anything seriously. The other half is succeeding in that mentality while enjoying the company of others.

Hmm, I like many of my guildies and friends.. Log on... look around, BS for a while log off..... In the last 2 months many have left, some have cancelled.... Most are totally bored, sick and tired of the lack of content and just log in to chat anymore..... As times goes on more and more simply won't come back.....

I discovered that globe of invulnerability is way better than grease or sleetstorm when cast in Harry in part 4 of the Shroud
