I made the silly mistake of assuming that the default gender for my warforged charachter would be male. I level to level 6 and never really noticed. I asked to have the gender changed and was informed that nothing could be done.
I would like to point out that DDO has no confirmation screen to make sure any of your selections are correct. This is something that you should add. I have closed my account.
That is all.

Um - uh - wha?
Like you can tell the difference anyway...
Sorry - but you DID close your account over a VERY trivial issue.
I hope you come back and try DDO again some day - it is a great game!

Wow, really? I don't think anyone thinks any less of the game but I know I for one sure think a whole lot less of you. Bye!

I should add that I didn't have the best experience with the GM's as I tried to find a solution.
It's simple I pay to play this game, I had a non-balance issue with my character, I could get no help with.
So what happens when I have an actual issue?
What I saw didn't give me very much confidence in DDO's customer support, which is a very important feature in any mmo.
And to anyone who gladly wishes away a paying customer for a game that they like. You are missing the picture.

You joined April 09. I don't think anyone is going to miss your "contribution". You said it yourself that your gender has absolutely no effect on the game. Have you ever contacted a GM for anything other than something so Trivial? Early in the games life there were stuck points and such all over. I would contact a GM and within minutes they would have me out of the stuck spot with no experience loss or other penalty I would have recieved by Recalling out of the instance. The GMs are very good about replacing items/money lost by glitches and reinstating whatever they can when the game has a legitimate problem. I called customer support just today and had an issue with my account resolved in less than 10 minutes. Turbine = Great. Your character being female was caused by your own personal error and is no way Turbine or any other GM's fault. What if you called a GM and said "Hey I picked the +5 Shruiken as my quest prize by accident, I didn't know I couldn't use them. Will you give me a +5 Rapier?" He is going to tell you know. "Hey, I wasn't paying attention and made a Female character," gets you the same result.

Look around, you can't even buy DDO in a store anywhere near me. It's not like there is a flood of new players rushing to this game. I've heard so much "oh wow your actually a totally new player!" Turbine, DDO and anyone who wants to keep their game open should seek to keep anyone playing.
I made this post not to trash DDO but to tell everyone that a flaw in the game, that being no confirmation screen during character creation, should be fixed.
I was also disappointed with the service I was given. It was very "nothing I can do sorry by." No offers of any solutions. No thinking at all about my problem. Offer a name change to a female name? Find a way to get someone who is new to get the game some support in regaining their levels if they have to reroll? Any offer of a solution would probably have kept me playing, instead I got "nothing I can do, anything else I can help you with, bye."

This is not a flaw in game design. This is a user generated flaw. There are things GMs can do and things they can't. If they never offered to change someone's alignment due to an alleged bug, they certainly aren't going to change a characters sex. That's assuming of course they actually have the ability to do it.
What's the real reason? No one in game is likely to even notice let alone care that your wf is female. Level 6? That's early enough to re-roll. There are plenty of things to be upset about but this is not one of them.

yet another member of the "I made a mistake and it's sombody elses fault generation" whining about somthing. I mean honestly it asks if you want male or female and you choose one of em, How is this anyones fault but your own ? and if it's that big a deal since your only level 6 Make another one for crying out loud. It's not that difficult.
Or you can cancel and make the game safer for non morons :D

You felt so invested in a lvl 6 character that you were too traumatized to reroll? I've rerolled several characters to include a lvl 13, lvl 9, and gasp a lvl 6. Contact Gloria Allred for legal advice, I'm sure she can put together a press conference and get a lawsuit with class action status due to your loss.......
